Brookes should do it. Let's face it most of the TT regulars are second rate, when they get found out during their forays into circuit racing, you can see it compared to proper racers. I'd expect a solid national championship guy like Josh to hand most of them their ****s.

If only a GP rider found the time and inclination to take part.....

llort Murof just like he did at the NW ---- NOT! He was well down the field and its an easier race than the TT. Credit for trying the roads but I think he is'nt up there yet with the top road specialists- different type of riding as he admitted himself.

IIort, what a *****ic statement. Joey Dunlop said his lack of success on short circuits was due to not being able to get his head around it being OK to fall off. 2nd rate??? Road racers are a DIFFERENT BREED. Its like comparing F1 to WRC. Is Sebastien Loeb second rate?
I wont rubbish circuit racers, I respect their talent but 'proper racers'? Get off your **** and GO to a road race, ANY road race and then rubbish road racers and their skills if you dare.
Condolences to the family and friends of Yoshinari Matsushita. RIP.

Could McPint win a BSB race? Never.

Could Brookes win a TT? Give him 2years I reckon he might.

Undoubtedly the top track guys have more ability on a bike. I respect the TT guys because of the difficult nature of the track, but I have to agree they are not the best racers in the world. Different disciplines within the same sport, whilst its difficult to draw direct comparisons I can see what Murat is saying.

Here is a couple of TOP riders that were not second rate, and excelled at WORLD as well as British level short circuits,

Carl Fogarty, Steve Hislop, Jock Taylor
Hutchy, Joey, Phil Mcallen, the list can go on and on!!!!

Thats just a few off the cuff but to write a statment like you have is just pure insulting to what these men have done and achieved!!
Proper Racers..........you boil my piss!!!

A lot of people forget that John McGuinness is a former British 250cc champion, supersport and superstock race winner and has been on the podium in BSB.

Steve Plater, Simpson and David Jefferies have been short circuit champions.

Michael Rutter, Michael Dunlop and Ian Hutchinson have won national level races too.

I hope Brookes does well and inspires other BSB front runners to participate, the more competition the merrier!

re: "Following his first competitive outing on the GSX-R1000 on Saturday, Brookes admitted he belt 'uncomfortable' as he sought to find his bearings."

what you posted was soooo true, and may I add if what he said was true it would mean a lot of the greats of GP racing were useless as most of the racing years ago were held on roads.
For the ill informed names like Duke Surtees Hailwood just to name a few some of the greatest racers of all time of which I had the great pleasure of seeing racing at the UGP.
