Yeah Melandri must be one of the riders with great prespective of future but is carear end up beeing a bit wasted by this situacions where Manufacters suddently decide to retire!! At least he can t complain about money since this guys Win a lot.. But 4sure this guy is one hell of a racer that never really had that base to build is confidente and talente.. I will say this again if Melandri was one rider so loved has Pedrosa is at Repsol 4sure melandri allready had been World Cahmpion

I, personally, would not mind him returning to the Kawasaki family, but not at the expense of Sykes or Baz.

IF Mahi Racing step up, I would love to see a two man squad of him and Kenan on factory machines.

Too bad BMW is leaving the series but Melandri is a very good racer that should get some options. Lance if you're right about Yamaha returning to WSB that would be a good fit but I'm sure he'll be on some team's lists as potential rider possibly even back in Motogp.

re: "Yamaha have been rumored to be making a come back to WSBK"

you said it yourself, that's just a rumor innit...? perhaps a better question...

Q: would an R1 even be competitive against bikes like the S1R and the Zed under the thumb of ezpelata's freaky austerity rules...?

A: no

The current Yamaha R1 is no match for the Kawasaki ZX-10 or the BMW S1000RR. However, Yamaha are "rumored" to be developing a new 3 cylinder R1 and Honda are getting their new V4 MotoGP road replica ready to race.Either way, Melandri will be fine. He's got the talent, he's already made enough cash to retire on and he's married to a supermodel :)
