Eric Boullier says driver weight won't be a deciding factor in who lines up on the grid for Lotus in 2014

It would be rather lame if the weight of the drivers really comes into play as a result of the regulations for next year. Tall drivers already are at a disadvantage in autosport in general which is ok up to a point but when it becomes an artificial barrier to perform well at the top level like this, that should be changed IMO.

You have to admire Boullier's confidence in his technical team! Especially having just lost Allison and De Beer to Ferrari! I hope his confidence is well foundered as it will be important for Nico to have a good car to drive next year.

The likes of Di Resta, Button, Webber,Justin Wilson, Coulthard, Hulkenberg and especially Kubica (who admitted he starved himself through a season), always look/looked emaciated and ill throughout a season.
The FIA supports this by not making a larger limit to driver weight.
Surely they don't condone unhealthy practice??
Its just ridiculous a driver can make millions and has to be constrained from eating.
To quote Webber on retiring"At last I can have a proper dinner!!"

I can't believe Nico hasn't been signed by a top team yet (IMHO he should of been signed by Mclaren last year instead of Perez), I think he deserved a chance with a big team last year and has proved himself again this year by out-performing the Sauber and by putting in quality race performances but at the moment he hasn't even got a drive for next year. He has proved what a great, fast driver he is on numerous occasions, it will be a travesty if he doesn't get a drive for next year. Hopefully he will get the Lotus drive, surely he's a better candidate than Massa. I know Massa has a ton of cash to bring to the team but I hope they pick their replacement for Kimi based on talent alone!

If Hulk doesn't get the drive, I hope he doesn't hulk up.

Okay, that was a lame pun. Seriously though, he deserves to got to Lotus. But I'm a bit nervous with the new regs that the Renault might not be what it is. Still though, a massive talent that should be signed.

buzz. I guess that he is referring to the fact that NOBODY knows who will have the best engine next year. the Renault reigns at present, despite not having the most power, but next year, it could be a dud?

I just read on Autosport that Hulk is giving Lotus until the end of the month to commit to a contract for him. Seems the team has approached him but there is one sticking point. They continue to wait to strike a deal with Infinity. So, based on how the Kimi saga unfolded, it would not surprise me to see Lotus lose the opportunity to sign Hulk for the same reasons.
