It's not a 1098R Steve929, it's an 1198R and has been for 2 years. Maybe they do need to look at the handicapping, but isn't that what they are supposed to do at regular intervals during the season? (ala NASCAR) Weight penalties/air restrictors etc. I have no beef with that if it keeps it close. Still, have to say. 6 different makes in the top 6 is pretty good. It's just that Carlos Checa is maintaining a good average whereas the I4 boys keep swapping round.

Hmm, don't know. Eugene wasn't able to stick with Cal on quite a few occasions when CC was riding that Yamaha 2 years ago. I remember Cal qualifying 1.5secs faster than anyone at the Nurburgring on it. Damn shame for Sam Lowes though but he's young and he'll learn. He'll still be fast, maybe just needs to learn to pace himself a bit. It was only lap 5 of 21. I hope they can help Sam with some top end speed for Monza, he's going to need it there!

(sigh) In the interests of making the championship available to a wide range of engine types (twins, triples and fours) the rules are set out to enable a twin cylinder engine compete with a 4-pot. A 2-cylinder engine CANNOT produce the SAME power as a similar sized 4-cylinder engine. Hence, the dispensation for differing engine configurations. It's not cheating if it's written into the rules. 3-cylinder engines are allowed 1100cc but there aren't any (now). I suppose you'd say Triumph would be cheating if they were to enter an 1100cc triple? I don't see anything wrong with these limits if it results in close racing (which it does). I don't suppose this will make the slightest difference as this thread pops up all the time.
