Alan D - I can't share your logic that Renault are still Renault despite who owns it. If that was the case then they aren't Renault at all but are actually Toleman, and nothing to do with the Renault team of the late 70s (engine excepted). And by your rationale Mercedes are nothing to do with the team that raced in the 30s and 50s but are in fact Tyrrell (and even their engines are actually Ilmor!). Red Bull are Stewart, Torro Rosso are Minardi etc. If Proton had bought an existing team and called it Lotus wouldn't that be as bad as what Fernandes has done?

WTCC » WTCC drops Brands for Donington

Hey Crash, don't forget the 1995 round of the International Touring Car series that Donington held. The ITC has quite a few similarities to the WTCC, in that it grew from a national championship (DTM). Why don't these series have the same level of sucess as the national series? Is it just too expensive for the manufacturers to support? I'm glad to see Donington getting another good race, but not at the expense of Brands. I hope other series don't start making the same excuses about Brands' paddock.

Read and still have his autobiography - the version with no mention of being Stig, so I know he's telling the truth. The later editions had a different cover picture to the one in the photo, showing him in a Stig outfit, rather than the period Andrea Moda shot. Very funny book and well worth a read. Have to agree about the Ben Edwards comment too.

F1 » Turbo return set to entice another major player back to the grid?

Part of the reason the manufacturers desserted the fold was due to the fact that the technology used was not so beneficial to production cars. Manufacturers are putting small capacity turbo charged engines in their production cars, and that is why the F1 engine rules are changing. Why shouldn't any manufacturer return to F1 if the formula suits them?
