The way I see it is like this, Tommy (& Ollie) were never on the best machinery, with not a great budget in BSB.
After Mallory 2007, its understanable that Tom chose to head away from the British scene.
I'm glad to see him back and performing well. He's still young and obviously got talent and at the moment he's showing what he can do....which seems to be working. I'm sure the Ginger fella is egging him on

I think for this year he'll be restricted to the NB bike, who knows next year tho, perhaps Watanabe is keeping a seat warm for him :)

Big up to Simon Andrews tho. What a performance so far this year!!! I would hope that someone gives Mr Andrews a crack on a decent bike next season.

So Mr Palmer couldn't maintain his Visk Insurance then...more likely not making much money out of it (or lack of traffic through his the site)? Not surprised if they just had a 'click this link and we'll call you back' ...Bennetts didn't do that well out their deal either by all accounts. I always believed this to be a conflict of interest from the start but Hey.....what do I care? Hasn't exactly changed the racing. Can't wait to see the Big Ed mascots wobbling round Paddock Hill on the non existant Harley championship bikes...... Good luck MCE sounds like you'll need it :)

Hey Regis. Really great news to hear that you're responding well to treatment. It's such a pity that after such a promising start (after a couple of difficult seasons) it came to this. In the words of John Lennon 'Life is what happens when you're busy making plans' I wish you a speedy recovery and hope to the number 55 flying again soon. :D

@Kebab the cat 1 I agree 2 I dont agree 3 Its a fine line, but again, I dont agree @Danis Dad Pedrobot on a Duke? Be like that scene out of Return of the Jedi, the one where the Ewok nicks the speeder bike and shoots off with a high pitched squeel! :D Its obvious that Bayliss has huge experience in racing regardless of where he finished in the actual MotoGp races, I mean just look at Vittoriano Guareschi (Duke Dev rider) and Kousuke Akiyoshi (Suzuki test rider). Both bikes have won races (one more so than the other) both riders have raced in multiple GPs....did they get decent results? Nope. Still didn't stop them developing decent bikes did it?

Heh heh heh Formula 1 - The racing worlds' equivalent of Lady Ga Ga - all flounce and pomp but mostly vacuous hot air. Britain won't permanently loose the F1 GP coz it is part of the historic heart of the sport. It could go elsewhere but what would be the point? Most of the factories are either based in the UK or at least have R&D here. As someone has already said here, a lot of the circuits in Britain are used on a regular basis as they have the fan base (in whichever dicipline of motorsport) to support them. Circuits are being built around the globe with the sole purpose of hosting F1 coz of the cash involved. Not really the recipe for longevity is it?

@ The devil Capirossi had an 'off season' with the only year he had on the 800. For a majority of his time at Bologna he had a very successful partnership. Don't forget he helped shape the 990 as well as the 800. His first full season of development with the 990 (2004) saw him finish the season in 9th, but after that enjoyed a run of much higher final placings....so your point is...? :?

@Paul46 If my memory serves me right, the point i made some weeks ago was that Stoner and Kallio equals 125/250 backgrounds - Doing OK Hayden and Canepa equals Superbike backgrounds - Not doing OK Ergo, getting a Bayliss in to aid development might give a better 'superbike' style feedback to the development. Capirossi did well on the Duke , he obviously 125/250 bred. So is Melandri but didnt do so well....but he appears to be the only GP bred rider not to do so well on the Duke

The Camel RCVs were never that competative compared to the full factory bikes and the 1st tier 'customer' bikes of Setes' Movistar. Not really a like for like comparison RD. The Dukes...well Nicky is feeling it this season as Melandri did last. Now Sete and Bayliss on Onde Desmos (after Bayliss has time to get up to speed on the 800s) that would be very interesting! As I said in another thread a 'superbike' riding style may give better feedback to the engineers than someone who has been weened through the 125/250 route. Melandri is the exception that proves the rule @HeyClown I don't think Nickys' contract is in jepardy yet...Ducati would have paid alot for that signature

Hmmmm Stoner graduated from 125s and 250s Kallio graduated from 125s and 250s Hayden graduated from superbikes Canepa graduated from Superbikes Bayliss graduated from superbikes Kallio and Stoner doing OK, Hayden and Canepa not so well Perhaps something to do with the riding style. Perhaps thats why they've bought Mr Bayliss back in to give some feedback from that perspective ..... possibly Or perhaps its more down to more hands equals less work Whatever, its be great to see him guest at some point :)
