Phil, people said after some of his overtaking moves (mainly the one on Kimi at Monza)last season that he wouldn't be doing it again this year. Proved all those nay-sayers wrong didn't he?
What's wrong with being aggressive, didn't do a certain Ayrton Senna or Micheal Schumacher any harm, did it? How does that saying go? If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen, Robert!

Posted by Suzy Those are facts, but your comparation is still unfair. F1 and motor racing has been very different 16 and 24 years ago. Of course he wouldn't have won a title in Schumacher's 1991-1993 Benetton or in Senna's Toleman. Your aguement was a very valid one until you tried to do what you said could't be done, as shown by the above part of your post!!!

(cont) I certainly wouldn't descibe him as a hanger on, he was much better than that, shown by the fact he won 13 Grand Grix. Who else won more Grand Prix from 1994-2008? Micheal Shumacher Damon Hill Kimi Raikonnen Fernando Alonso Any more?? (sorry if I've missed any!!)

"the problem with dc is when he had a good car he still never performed with it consistently it was always a flash in the pan win now and again i would not call him an accomplished driver at all in F1 more of a hanger on for the money Posted by Barry Wilkinson (1 hour 10 minutes ago)" DC's trouble, like Hekki's now, is that whilst at McLaren he had a driver who RD took under his wing. At Jerez 1997 when Coulthard reluctantly gave Hakkinen the win he was told that if he didn't do it then his position during the team might be 're-considered'. I also thought the Melbourne '98 move was something that was agreed between the drivers, but the call actually came again from the pit-wall. (cont)

Sorry Shrieker, true as it may be, you're just opening yourself up from abuse from Sunny and the likes of him/her I'm afraid. They don't want to admit Hamilton is an accomplished racer who's won on half the tracks he's raced a Formula One car on. They'll just tell you to be worthy he must drive a car that wasn't any good, not looking at the fact he drives a McLaren because Ron Dennis saw something in him as a 10 year old junior karter and nutured that talent into the driver he is today.

The thing is Gascoyne brought definate improvements to Jordan in 1999, took a dog of a Benneton in 2001 and made it into the Renault that gave Alonso his first pole and win and took a recalcient Toyota in 2004 and look at the season they had in 2005 because of the car he designed. He left Jordan and Renault because he was head-hunted by the teams he then moved to. He was fired by Toyota because he didn't fit in with the 'Japanese' way of doing things. I can't for the life of me think of what FIF1 were doing letting him go, a definate mistake, prickly character or not. Sorry to say this VJ, but you're an idiot for sacking him.

@AB 'Well he is the winner but the record books will always show he won in it a year when Alonso and Kimi were not in the game' No the record books will show ONLY that 2008 WDC is Lewis Hamilton, I've never seen any postscripts on the end of what records are shown saying that, for example, Alonso only won the 2006 championship because Schumacher had a crap start to the season and had an an engine blow-up at Suzuka!! 'and even allowing for Spa deduction (the only one that you can reasonably question), that Massa won more races than him' Had Lewis not lost his Spa win, he would have won 6 races, Massa 5. And you forgot the questionable Fuji penalty against Bordais.

I don't remember Hill, Coulthard or Villenueve being asked NOT to race their 'natural team leaders' in their rookie campaigns......
