True, we have heard it before, but how many of those guys came in their rookie year, set the record for poles in a row, and dominated so much? Oh, and on tracks they had never seen before?

Ecclestone to join F1 breakaway if CVC ousts him?
1 disagrees.
Well it wouldn't be all bad to have Bernie come along. As others pointed out, he has the contacts to get a new series up and running quickly. Being a new series, the existing contracts in place giving BE so much of the revenues wouldn't be in place, so they could work it so he gets less. A new series also wouldn't be charging near as much for tracks since they are an unknown quantity (ie, will fans show up).

Hamilton: 'Safety' considerations taking fun out of F1
6 agree.
Andrew, I don't think anyone here is talking about making the cars less safe, but changing the regulations about celebrations and the like. F1 takes itself way too seriously. The FIA think these celebrations are for "lesser" motorsports. It's things like these no celebration rules, or not letting fans close to the cars, that help drive fans away. In the IRL/Cart, AMA superbikes, world superbikes, and even MotoGP, you can get very close to the cars/bikes. You can chat with the mechanics and even drivers often. The drivers are allowed to celebrate and get the fans riled up. F1 needs to get more of that.

Hamilton: 'Safety' considerations taking fun out of F1

Mark, The Laguna incident was because the guy stupidly decided to do a burnout right after a blind hill. A little common sense is all thats needed. About the MotoGP commments, the article specifially mentions MotoGP, so stop whining when we discuss it.

Hayden: Home fifth as hard as a win.

Kenlucky kid, get your facts straight before you make claims. Nicky also won at Assen in 2006.

Desmofan, why do you think he'd have any sort of advantage at Indy? He hasn't ridden it anymore then the other regulars. It was never a track on the AMA circuit, hell motorcycles in general haven't raced there in a long time. Even Laguna doesn't have much of a home track advantage anymore, Laguna has been 5 years now? The regulars all know it pretty well.

REVISED: Assen MotoGP - Race results.
3 agree.
Kenlucky, he certainly did get some positions because of crashing, however he also got himself into 6th or 7th right at the start. He did fade back a couple spots but stuck with the pack, he didn't drop off and actually made a pass or two. He still has a long way to go, and very well never become a top-5 rider on the Duc, but he certainly is improving.

Great race! Glad to see a battle to the line again, it's been far too long. Nicky did marginally better too, lets hope he continues to improve.
