andrew mac ....best you take them rose-tinted spectacles off.... I think there's a lot more moments he should be admitting to, the thing that disappoints me is that he was good enough to get the results so I never could understand why he had to resort to cheating. :? NO I'm most definitely not a fan

Bob fair point on the bribery comment, I guess I just get as frustrated as everyone else about the inconsistencies in decisions and the fact that Ferrari do appear to be favoured in the decision-making. No I'm not involved in F1 I've just been an addict for 30 years although my spark did take a dive after Imola 1994.

Sid... Johnny Herbert Bennetton 1995 pre-season testing..JH was consistently faster than MS in testing at which point MS instructed his side of the pits to never share telemetry again. However when a driver stipulates that he must have preferential treatment and have use of all the upgrades before his team-mate can we ever truly see how quick the 2nd driver really is ? Rubens didn't do a bad job but I won't consider Irvine 'cos he only cared about the money and being a Ferrari driver meant he got to sh8g georgeous women..sorry I'm getting sidetracked again

Bob Eldred..the only problem I can see with your view is that having the SAME stewards at every race would possibly open them up to bribery. Here's another couple of angles, the FIA takes a dozen possible stewards to each race but only 3 get drawn from a hat on race morning & the other 9 get sent home,or 12 stewards sit watching the screens BUT have NO contact with each other, Charlie Whiting informs them of an incident to investigate, but they can't confer with each other. They write in their own view who was at fault and what they feel the penalty should be,the cards are then handed to Charlie Whiting & he makes the final judgement...hows that for a plan ?!!

I think a lot of us want LH to win the championship because we don't want a Ferrari driver to win it ?!! Gilles Villeneuve had exactly the same "go for the win" attitude every time he got behind the steering wheel and he's still revered for it even now 27years? later, so if LH were never to win the title at least he'll have given us plenty of RACING......... Ahhhh!! I've just realised the difference.. Gilles Villeneuve drove for FERRARI and LH drives a McLaren

....in my opinion if you consider yourself the best then you should be prepared to take on whoever comes along, before anyone reminds me that Senna blocked Derek Warwick from joining Lotus, Senna at that point in his career was only just starting in F1 and wasn't an established GP winner. Sorry to bang on a bit and move off the thread but sometimes it's very difficult not to get sidetracked

Mark_ you're quite correct Senna was my hero, but without doubt some of the strokes he pulled were well outside of what could be called fairplay, I wouldn't even embarrass myself by trying to defend him. In that respect I do try to make a fair judgement of a situation without being blinkered by hero-worship.I think in SOME respects Senna and Schumacher were equally as ruthless/overly aggressive on the track but for me where MS let himself down was NEVER having to race his team-mate with equal equipment something that Senna never had written into his contracts, I just find that attitude hard to take.....cont'd

agree with you Lorenzo, in fact whilst the history books will say that Schumacher is the most successful driver ever, in my view I can't recall ANY championship that wasn't clouded in some way by controversy of some sort. Charlie Whiting is either the race director or he isn't, the final decision should be his not and having to defer to the stewards, it's time the FIA made their minds up :?

TimBo, Massa has probably been taking lessons from the Michael Schumacher School of Motoring Racing Bible.. Chapter 14.2 sub-section A214/L.... thou shall not give up a position without exacting revenge and then look yonder to apportion blame...see index for 1994 / 1997 ( sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't but the FIA will always be there to offer assistance )
