F1 » 'No complacency' at Red Bull

yo Richard, Im with you on your comment, but as you say the testing/lead time IS restricted so again in theory that means the teams that lag behind by a large or a small amount only have a very small window in which to find the sweet spot and if they don't then its catch-up time all over again. If I can give an extreme example, when JB won with Mercedes, he was running away with the championship because it took so long for Mcl and Ferrari to sort their own problems but at about the halfway point,if I remember correctly, both teams got on top of their issues and JB struggled pretty much for the rest of the season for decent results and it was only his early season wins that kept him ahead of the game !! I stand to be corrected but it was my take on the season

Richard I agree with you that LH would be a lot closer and although Im a fan ( and of several of the other drivers as well )he has been making some stupid mistakes so at the end of the season when he looks back he'll have to hold his hand up and say could have done better. A point I made on an earlier post is that its very difficult to play catch-up with a test ban in place. So the team that hits the ground running has a much bigger advantage these days than in days of old.

I take your point Richard but I don't recall Senna ever running away with a championship without being troubled by a team-mate at least if not another driver, that's why I made the comment about a DRIVER rather than a team, I actually don't give a monkeys if a TEAM is dominating providing there a 2 drivers going for it, I know you may say that its up to Webber to raise his game and I wouldn't disagree with that comment either

to be honest, 1 driver dominating has always p1ssed me off whoever it is, but it could so easily be sorted out by bringing back in-season testing, I'm really not interested in hearing how the FIA banned it in the interests of cost-cutting when they've insisted on KERS which has cost the teams MILLIONS to develop. I can think of cheaper ways for the FIA to reduce costs without it costing any money, in fact they could make money straight off by making Monaco pay for the GP the same as all the other circuits instead of getting it as a freebee
