RECOMMENDED COMMENT

as for the comment about rossi's post race antics... you've got to be f@#$ing kidding. i clearly remember the pre-rossi era of post race tedium where doohan and company would regale us with scintillating tales of tire choice and rim diameter. now that's entertainment!
rossi takes real pleasure in racing and in winning (thank god, since he does it so often) and he expresses that joy. his celebrations are hilarious and genuine. but i guess if you don't get that, you probably never will. too bad, you're missing out on the fun.

Pedrosa backs 'fun' 990cc return.

cont. i'm no fan of traction control, but you take it away and the "aliens" will win by even larger margins. you increase power and the same thing will happen. increase the size of the grid, you'll have more riders competing for the lower places. right now we have 4 top riders with a roughly equal chance of winning races. there hasn't been a class like this since the early 90s. as a result, the racing this season was often quite good. better than average, in fact.

"the lack of torque resulted in processional races since any deviation from the racing line is heavily punished" that explains why the 250 class is so boring...
there are several problems with motogp, but the "processional races" aren't going to be cured by an increase in power. when people start complaining about the lack of close racing, i have to wonder how long they've been watching gps. go back and watch previous years! on average you get 1-2 really great races per season. all the way back to the mid 90s. 1-2 races. the rest all have their moments, sure. but rarely do you get a great race-long battle that comes down the last lap.

PICS: Rossi caught out while 'riding to win'.
what were stoner's post-race comments? several people have referred to them, but they weren't shown in the online broadcast.

Dual-compound slicks for Sachsenring.
the reason they're not given a choice of every available compound is that the single-make tire decision was taken in large part to reduce the cost of racing. if bridgestone was required to produce their full array of tires for each round, the cost would be much greater. with the grid as small as it is, onde pulling out and scot and hayate running on fumes, i don't think the sport could bear even the slightest increase in cost at the moment.

Jorge Lorenzo injury update.
4 agree.
how on earth do you know that he DOESN'T suffer from one of those illnesses? stoner has been diagnosed with a chronic condition the details of which are at the moment either unknown or undisclosed. you certainly don't know what it is. world champions with massive sponsor commitments who have performed through pain that would lay up most normal people do not look like stoner has looked for going on a month unless there is something seriously wrong.

Lorenzo 'very fast'.
2 agree.
1:22s i'm a rossi guy through and through, but lorenzo's a star. i can't decide which i want to see more, lorenzo staying on a factory yamaha, so that every weekend is a nail-biter, or lorenzo moving to hrc with dovizioso. either way we get great racing. check out the yamaha "office" skit if you haven't. they're all good, but lorenzo struck me as the funniest.

direct comparisons between riders of different eras are pointless. sure, ago raced on much more dangerous tracks like spa and the isle of man, but the speeds were lower and as mentioned, he enjoyed a massive bike superiority. ago also raced in multiple classes in the same year. can you imagine rossi's victory count if he raced in motogp and 250s at the same time? besides, "greatest" is more than victory totals anyway. doohan, rainey and schwantz all raced in an era when the bikes were at their most dangerous, the tracks were more deadly and the level of competition was more even. if not for career-ending injuries, who's to say how many victories they would have?
