If it's a cash issue then surely all the drivers and teams who want Silverstone to get the British GP should see whether they've got any spare change in their pockets since the fans always come last when any upgrades happen at Silverstone.

Ralf is a retired driver, and one whose fighting spirit retired half a decade ago... If Lewis or SV went to DTM, they sure as hell are going to get a new car or they won't go at all.

Another concern with this plan is that F1 stars will overshadow potential new talents, since not only are F1 front-runners (theoretically) more experienced and talented, but (on a more practical level) the best equipment will always be reserved for them in whatever lesser series their managers allow them to compete in.

I hope someone important reads Elite's comment about the stupid "driver's face camera". It adds absolutely nothing to the experience, and it seems to be taking a larger and larger percentage of air time (probably so they don't have to hire more cameramen along the route). As though seeing Loeb's stern face and barely moving arms combined with Elena's squeaky voice is supposed to make you 'experience' what they're going through.

I think I see how the new rules could encourage more overtaking than just through aerodynamics: just get that big, prickly wing close enough to the rear tire of the car in front of you and voila, problem solved! You can always claim it was an accident afterwards :p

Wow, Christopher, you probably need to put some sort of emoticon after sarcastic statements, apparently a lot of folks here didn't get the joke. But seriously, there are a lot of ACTUAL talent that just got dumped onto the driver market, even deserving drivers like Henning, Francois and Gigi will struggle to keep the other Stobart seats, fighting off at least P-G, Toni, Petter, Chris, and probably others whose teams have lost funding. Guess there's no chance of someone from the lower series making it to the big time next year (partly because Matthew's got a guarantee on one of the best seats.)

"... but [at Jerez] I had Bourdais and Sato under control." LOL! Better hope those guys can't find the funding, kid. I stand by my earlier prediction that whomever starts in Oz, Bourdais and Sato will be driving the STR's at the end of the season

Wow, for sportscar fans, this is like Ferrari leaving F1. No Audi in either ALMS or LMS. I''m sure they''ll be back in 2010, after all, why build a new car only to race a couple of times a year? Also, I wonder if this has anything to do with the new, and already much hyped ARX-02?

Actually, Ford just wants that loan 'if they need it'. They're supposedly in the best shape of the 3 US companies and figure if the other 2 are going to get some cheap loans, why not join in? Chevy's still spending plenty on the WTCC too, and way more money's spent on NASCAR by all of them

I don't have any particular preference between BMW and Seat but I'm sick of seeing the comments from the passionate anti-diesel ppl here. A diesel engine is no more of a 'cheat' than BMW having rear-wheel drive all these years competing against FWD cars.
