MOTOGP » Italian broadcaster swaps MotoGP for WSBK

I have no vested interests (ie don't own a bike in any of the classes) and am just a 'motorcycle racing fan' but I have decided to miss most of this years Moto GP meetings (+support races) because I've better things to do. I've signed up to Eurosport Player for a wider motorcycling diet and have been mostly watching the superbikes. That's simply where the best racing and action is (Italy aside!) is I've seen so far this year.

So now I've done my nice respectful post I reckon Lorenzo will be genuinely sorry he's leaving, even though it obviously changes his potential for a shot at the World Championship in a beneficial way. Rossi will be happy although he may say otherwise.

Another "Wow, what a surprise". But at the end of the day its his life. A great loss to the sport though. I was looking forward to his record breaking career.

Melandri was riding a bit wild at the end there. He tried too much of a dive into the hairpin. Exiting that with several (4 or five) bike lengths behind Haslam. Next corner again big lunge from too far back (coverage is limited how far that move originated) took himself wide and unsettled Haslam a bit. Rea stuck his tyre in the gap but seemed he was going wider and Haslam was cutting back = prang. I don't think Leon knew Rea was there till it was too late. You see his gesture "WTF" with his arms when he stands up. Then again Rea made a similar move on Biaggi at the hairpin too. Biaggi shook Rea's hand after as well. But maybe that was more to do with him skittling Marco. Motorcycle racers. Gotta love em! watch?v=VgyxA5i9nfI

@drifter re Mugello. I have never looked in to Rossi's stats but one thing I do know is he was on the whole lucky in his riding - not that many falls and not that many injuries from the falls. Maybe Mugello being a big injury for him, got under his skin and in his mind? Maybe its Rossi's brain that needs the work. Not the bike.

I have never been a Rossi Fan at all. Quite the contrary. But it would be sad to see such as accomplished rider retire in circumstances such as this.
