RR » TT2014: Karl Harris loses life in Superstock incident

Bradenws: Are we supposed to be shocked by this type of news anymore? It's been "real" every year I've paid attention, and I want to say that's since around 2004. This race kills. The riders must know that by now, and we're not allowed to act like it doesn't anymore. Always sad to see, but my god. Surface streets are not meant for racing, people, so don't act so thunderstruck every time these incidents happen.
Firstly. This is a record of the event. Deaths often go on record - read the newspapers, watch the TV news. Not noticed this? Should it not be recorded? Secondly. Its is not recorded to shock - that is a person's reaction to the news. Maybe wait till someone you have a connection to or admire dies on a mundane car journey and then tell yourself not to be shocked because thousands die on GB roads every year huh? I say this since I'd breach Crash.net's policy if I really spoke my mind. RIP Bomber. I was another concerned person when he decided to

MotoGP » Marquez 'nearly crashed in every corner'

shamarone: re: "When they were on the straight we had cut away shots of people in the pits and people on the pit wall and some pit signals. Huh?" no, that's okay. what Marcus was being shown was EXACTLY what I wanted to see. the battle with jay wasn't the story. "80 pt. jay" isn't a threat. the REAL story was the gap back to ROSS. that dictated everything. by lap 9 VR46 pulled within 1.1 sec. THAT was the moment for him to get a wiggle on and put jay between him and ross as a buffer. with them 2 battling it out/slowing each other down and 14 to go, he would've been all set for a "horizon job". again, no worries. we've seen riders with superior positions in MX deliberately slow down (hoping for a tussle) or not maximize their advantage.
"the battle with jay wasn't the story" err OK :-\ However you could see the difference in time at that point anyway due to proximity.

marsfoot: Him not pushing 100% I'm not so sure about. ???? Where did you read that? This is what he reportedly said:-- But I was pushing at 100% because I knew if he opened a gap [and broke the slipstream] then Valentino could catch me
Likely this in the article "I decided that I would only push 100% on the final lap and that was the key to win the race".
