The WTCC organisers have put forward these ideas to the manufacturers and Ashman reported that there was little or no disagreement among them. But Chevrolet Motorsport boss Eric Neve said to Autosport: "Any change will always mean extra cost."

Getting rid of naturally aspirated engines would make the performance difference between the current petrol engined cars and the turbo diesels in WTCC smaller. "The harmonsation problem we have isn't diesel versus petrol, it is turbo against non-turbo. A turbocharger with an air-restrictor is a great balancing tool for us that we have," said Ashman. Even though the turbo makes it easier to get more power out of the engines, there is no plan to go over the current 280-ish BHP that the S2000 cars of today have. According to Ashman the plan is that the existing S2000 cars are going to be able to compete along side the new "S2010" rules.

The change of rules for the World Touring Car Championship seems still to be brewing. The latest report say that we are in for a switch/change in 2010. According to the president of the Touring Car Comission, Jonathan Ashman, the changes will most likely include turbo petrol engines. "Environmental legislation is going to force manufacturers down the route to more efficient turbo engines of substantially reduced capacity," said Ashman to Autosport.

IT LOOKS LIKE THE WTCC WILL ALLOW TURBOS FOR PETROL CARS IN 2009 OR 2010. THE PETROL ENGINES WILL BE SMALLER THAN A 2.OL DERV BURNER POSSIBLY 1.8L PETROL TURBO IF THIS HAPPENS SAY BYE BYE TO THE DIESEL TRACTORS FOR GOOD :) HOPEFULLY THE BTCC WILL TAKE THE SAME STANCE

VERY TRUE ROB, IT LOOKS LIKE THE WTCC WILL ALLOW SMALLER LUMPS AND A TURBO FOR PETROL CARS TO STAY IN TOUCH WITH THE TDI'S FOR EITHER 2009 OR 2010, MAYBE ALAN GOW WILL LOOK AT THAT ESPECIALLY IF SEAT DOMINATE THE BTCC NEXT YEAR
