If the Michelins turn out to be the tyre for this year Hayden is the STRONGEST for the title. He's up against Danni, his only real threat riding Michelins and all the new boys from 250 and Wsbk. I really would like to see Hayden as Champion again as he still has faith and never gives up hope. It was Hayden who kept a cool head at Vallencia '06 with points BEHIND Vale to take a great 3rd place and wear the crown.
His only threat is from Casey who looks like he's going to destroy everyone again judging by the testing times. I know tests don't win Championships but it looks too likely again this year.

Simon, I have tried to ask a Vale loving mate of mine to explain why Casey is boring and he cant/wont answer. What is it that gripes you about him?

Andy, that makes for "you twisted my arm" tactics in getting a supply of 'stones for Vale?!. Lets hope that the tyre techs take Vale to the "special" van to collect his 23 where all the overcooked in the mould tyres get lobbed. As for Jorge, I REALLY, REALLY hope that Max incarnate does the number next year, but having seen what Vale did this year with the Yam and that being the benchmark of where to start with next years ride I just cant imagine it happening. Pity, as the competition between the two may bring out the best of both and I hope it will.

Thats right ace, I dont think Vale can win either way. The Yam wont be competitive on the 'stones from the off and Casey/ Danni will have a buffer that they will carry to the end of season. Then his trying too hard like the others have to will force errors like he did at Motegi and Valencia on the brakes and the results wont flow. Then again he could jump out of the box and slay all but I cant see it myself. The one that could be the one to watch next year is Hopper. New bike, lots of competitive spirit and something to prove. He has shown that he can ride all by himself and not fall off trying as I was expecting him to. He for me is the possible dark horse next year.

Well, if we're going back in History check out how Vale didn't win the year before this. Or how when it all came down to Vallencia he falls apart like a cheap Chinese Brietling replica just like the year before. You can only fight with the tools provided and as this year has shown more thyan any, if the tools aint right you will be fighting with Edwards in 12th. I just think that Vale's destroying days are gone. He can fight without a doubt, but he doubts himself when the chips are down and you see him ride more like a desperate " John Hopper" than his old "Slick" style.

Who else could you consider as a benchmark for Casey's success? As you say it's the whole package and if Cappers had the same package which we hope he did, why so many lame results? The "old" guard were all fighting on Michelins. You have to consider that at NO POINT during any race did you ever suspect that Casey was going to push it so hard that he would lose pace. Pedrosa wanted the Bridgestones too as he believed they were the key to his inconsistant results when the reality is that you have to set the bike to the tyres and not tyres to the bike as I mentioned above. Next year will be Honda with a years info on generic Mich's. Duc with tons of data and a 1 Yam with NO DATA of 'stones.

speed_maniac, maybe Vale is hoping that the Yamaha will work with the Bridgestones and destroy the field or because he maybe running around in the same place as Cappers this year (we know that Cappers can duke it out with Vale and Cappers is the only benchmark that proves Casey IS the real deal not the bike) he can blame his choice with the switch of rubber that could seriously backfire as Yamaha have no data with the 'stones. Vale will either shine like a star.. or a turd. The Honda's seemed to be nearing the front of the field by seasons end and Honda now know how to make the bike work on a generic issue tyre rather than demand a tyre to work for the package they had.

Rossi 'disappointed', Edwards 'embarrassed'.

It's only first practice. Don't get too worried by this unles it's the same story saturday afternoon. I need Valentino to do a good job otherwise all I will be reading monday is "Vale can do it , the bike cant!" When what I need to read is "Vale could do it, Caseys a Cahnt!" I dont think myself or others could deal with an Inquest into Yamaha's failures as most here would rather read some good ol' banter between "Vale Posse" and the "others"

Toseland talks MotoGP.
Ace, the biggest problem that we have here in England is that too many kids aspire to be JayZ and Puffy Combes. Add to the fact they hang around in thier cars smoking "trees o' weed" they quickly take on the physique "Biggie" and there life ends faster than 2Pac's. The only fit Children on the estates of England ride pushbikes at the speed of light after putting a couple o' caps in all and sundry that hang around pub car parks. Would you want the above sorts representing your country in anything other than the "redneck games", Snoop Doggys "Smokestack challenge" or Rockstars REAL Manhunt2?! The above is pure joke and shouldn't be taken as anything else

Toseland: I feel for Haga.
1 disagrees.
74Forever, you sound a little pissed that an English guy won the crown. There was more to Haga losing it than the incident with Biaggi. Someone posted correctly that Haga shouldn't have let Jt through in Max's home race or he should have pulled his socks up more at other races. 2 points may as well be 200 when the count happens at the end. Any man on the right package can win at MotoGp level. All on the field have proved their worth in ability to get there in the first place. All the Brits are wishing him well, not cheerleading that he's the second coming.

Chu, I have this memory of Foggy at Donnington? I believe waving an oil flag in the gravel where Kev Schwantz had gone down first and Foggy followed him later. So he did have a go with the Cagiva? and didn't finish. Jt is 27 and if he waits another year for Honda to then pull the rug on a Gp ride he will have missed the boat and may kick himself for never going. Look at what happened to Manuel Poggiali. Got 125 crown AND 250 in 1st try to then fall through a squash court window and fall off the winners radar. I think the jump now is the right thing as he will be damned if he do, and damned if he dont..
