F1 » Ferrari: Some people have poor memories

Make changes to cure the delamination problem - this a safety issue after all. But nothing else. So RBR can't exploit all the downforce available to them - well tough. Like all the teams, design your car for the tyres, not the other way around. Lotus, Ferrari and Force India, and others seem able to cope (and Mercedes problems don't seem specific to this year's tyre spec). Everyone should suck it up for 2013, and then start next year with new spec tyres, along with all the other changes. I just hope that the pressure from Ferrari and Renault is enough to force Pirelli to do an about face. Oh - and Pirelli may well have said they got it "wrong" (personally I think not). But the fact remains that this spec of tyre was the one ALL teams used to design their cars. So leave them that way. It will only be RBR and their fanbase who will be upset - again - tough.

F1 » HAVE YOUR SAY: Is Pirelli right to make changes?

Have used Diablo's on my Ducati for years - lovely tyres and seem to suit the bike. But see Boullier's comments today - he's upset and rightly so. If changes are to be made, they should be at the season's end, not just because one or more teams are "miffed" that their car doesn't work with them. As for Pirelli's profits (richard), looking at their press release (March 11th), there's no mention of reduced profits - quite the opposite - both overall, and for the tyre division - check Pirelli.com.

F1 » Ecclestone 'facing bribery charges'

I don't know whether or not he is guilty. But I can remember how F1 was back in the 60's - and the coverage given on UK Television - IF we were lucky and there wasn't a "major" sport on at the same time, (like rugby league or county cricket), we'd get the start and the first 5 - 10 laps. Then off to football or some other sport, returning for the final few laps. Practice? you must be joking!! So, for all his faults, I am grateful that he took hold of the sport and kicked it into shape - both on and off the track. And remember, too, that it was his initiative to bring Prof. Watkins in. We'll never know all the facts behind the Gribkowsky/CVC affair, so it's hard to judge guilt or not. Being a billionaire does not automatically make him guilty - just a target for people's envy.

F1 » Horner welcomes Pirelli announcement

My point is that the tyres are what they are and teams should deal with them rather than voice complaints (I believe Raikkonen also made the same comment). Pirelli also commented that they could easily make tyres to have the same characteristics of the old Bridgestone era, but that they were just following the customer's orders (the FIA). Certainly the comments from rbr have attracted more attention than those from other teams - they are, after all, the current champions, so one would expect this - and maybe as champions their voices carry more weight. But, should the revised tyres result in RBR returning to their dominant position, you can be sure that there will be a wave of complaints about the fairness (or lack of), of the changes. And whilst they (rbr) might not have complained directly to Pirelli, they have made their feelings known in the public domain - which is probably a more effective way of getting your message across.

F1 » Horner welcomes Pirelli announcement

richard - both Mateshitz and Marko have complained about the present tyres, as well as Horner - quite understandably, as they seem to penalise rbr more than other teams. But surely the onus is on them (rbr) to make changes to their car to better handle the requirements of the present rubber, rather than put pressure on Pirelli to change the spec. If, post Canada, the GP's revert back to more processional and predictable racing, irrespective of which team benefits the most will we get more complaints over the tyres? Better they remain "as is" for this year, and re-jig them for next year along with all the other changes. Ferrari showed you can win by going flat-out and pitting more often. Maybe RBR should have followed the same plan?

F1 » Pirelli confirms changes for Canada

It's a shame that Pirelli appear to be bowing to pressure from "certain" team(s) - and at the same time ignoring other teams who are happy with the present tyre specification. Personally, I enjoyed the uncertainty of Sunday's race - and I would not want to go back to the processions we saw during the Bridgestone era. Maybe RBR should dial back some of their downforce, if that is the issue, to make their cars more tyre-friendly. And Pirelli have stated that they can easily make tyres to similar spec as the Bridgestones if processional races are now wanted - other than the de-lamination problem, I just wish they would stand their ground for the rest of this year
