F1 » Mercedes could have quit F1 over engines

richard - check your facts - there's a lot of stuff on this on the net - much of which has cast a different light. Not least being the inconsistent penalties meted out that year for similar infringements However, yes, I agree with you on Merc - there's the track record as you say, with Sauber's sportscar operation - or maybe precedent??? and, of course their F1 operation started the same way.

FVA47 - The electronic engine is already here and in use - MAN-B&W have their fully electronic diesels - type ME-C has no camshaft, whereby both fuel injection and exhaust valve are controlled electronically. Type ME-B has cam operation of the exhaust valve only. Now these are marine engines operating at around 70 - 100 RPM depending on cylinder bore. I'm not sure the technology yet exists to control both inlet and exhaust valves, as well as injection at 15,000 RPM in an F1 engine.

His position was not affected. Personally, I always held Ken Tyrrell in the highest regard, and as a man of complete integrity. At that time he did antagonise just about every other team with his objections to rule changes that would favour the turbo teams, and their revenge? - the appeal (where the charges had been changed), and lack of TEAM support (as opposed to individual suppor
