Refreshingly, Button was talking candidly, rather than the usual "PR Speak" so often trotted out nowadays. But inevitably the 'sour-grapes' brigade have got to snipe and sneer.
Well done Button - it's really good to have another British World Champion.

How true. How sad, also, that Tom Wheatcroft should have died, with his work so butchered.

Yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. Just one (more) thought - next year there's no refuelling - so the smooth style of driving will become even more important in conserving a car. Well I think there's not much argument over who has the smoothest style at the wheel, with the least apparent input. So let's see what 2010 brings...

However inappropriate or "non-PC" you might consider his comments, BE is absolutely right. Senna's death reached out way beyond the sport itself, very much as did Jim Clark's in '68. The reaction following that tragic weekend, whether you consider it "knee-jerk" or not brought safety right back to the forefront. The HANS device, additional crash and cockpit protection are a DIRECT result of that accident in '94, just as the introduction of Armco, and the safety crusade by JYS followed April '68. As Richard said, read the article properly, then comment on the contents, not your personal emotion.

What is it about us Brits that we always have to knock our successes? Is it envy, or can we just not deal with success? Personally I am really pleased that he's won it, and suspect that next year will prove him not to be a "one-hit wonder" And absolutely agree with robbreid's comment - just goes to prove the old saying: "What do you call an intelligent American? A Canadian!" Oh, and just for the record, I live in America.

Latest (from Gillett) is that they have (yet) another 2 weeks. Smoke and mirrors evidently DO work to give an illusion... And, of course he (Gillett) is banking on stretching the timeline beyond a perceived date that Silverstone could take over. His comments about thinking of the fans sound faintly hollow.

"Best British etc" Just goes to prove the old saying: "There are lies, Damned lies, and Statistics" How he could be considered the most successful compared to the likes of Jimmy Clark, Stewart, Hill (both), Surtees and Mansell defies belief. But would be good to see him in sportscars - hopefully over this side of the pond.

1) Todt has no need to pass any comments - Mosley is doing that for him! Disrepute?? Mosley has made that word his very own. 2) Stewart is dyslexic - which makes his achievements out of the cockpit all the more impressive. There are some sad, envious people out there who cannot accept the views and success of others.

Yawn, yawn - Button makes a perfectly valid and pertinent point, and half of what we see above are the usual "knockers" trotting out the same old rubbish about team cheating etc. As for Hill/MS - remember MS had just hit the wall and damaged his suspension. If driving back onto the line and colliding wasn't a deliberate act, I'd like to know what was. Maybe ask Hakkinen his feelings from Macau a few years before (F3) when he (MS) did exactly the same thing. It's good to see someone coming out in favour of a title with INTEGRITY. Well done Mr Button.
