RECOMMENDED COMMENT

Refreshingly, Button was talking candidly, rather than the usual "PR Speak" so often trotted out nowadays. But inevitably the 'sour-grapes' brigade have got to snipe and sneer.
Well done Button - it's really good to have another British World Champion.

Button: Tension at Brawn GP 'the last thing I need'
@ Bosox If RB had made as much of the car's superiority as JB did, then surely they would have taken equal wins through the first part of the season. He didn't, so you cannot say he made the most - too many driving errors, and, at times was unable to counter just such a mid-race push that Button made in Singapore. Maybe only a second or two, but that's enough to separate winners from losers. Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when Brawn reamed both drivers new a-holes!!!!!

Piquet: Alonso, not Briatore, pulled strings at Renault
1 agrees.
I do recall, that when he left Williams, Piquet sourced, purchased and presented to Frank Williams an electronic device, the exact details of which I cannot remember, but which was a great benefit for a 'chair-bound person. There was no fuss about it either. So there are sides to everyone - including losing your cool when a myopic backmarker takes you out through total incompetence - just a shame he didn't properly knock Salazar out.

Just for one moment, and for sake of argument consider: What if everything he says is true?

Warwick: Jenson Button heading for a hollow victory
1 agrees.
@Rob - Your personal prejudices aside, I feel the major reasons for not yet having tied up an agreement with Button are that 1) He has not yet secured the championship, and 2) Their funding for next year seems weaker than would be expected given their successes this year, due to the worldwide economic crisis. Most informed observers of him have always commented on his deceptively fast style (similar to Prost).

Warwick: Jenson Button heading for a hollow victory
1 agrees.
2 disagree.
It's a shame Warwick feels the need to denigrate this year's achievements by Button, and by implication, the Brawn team as a whole. As others have already noted, a championship is secured by both victories and placings. No driver has ever won by dint of winning every race. Of course, it would be good if Button were to win some, or even all the remaining GP's. But I suspect even were that to happen, then there would be the doubters only too ready to point to the mid-season dip in form. Button consistently beat Barrichello in the early part of the season. Why cannot that period have as much relevance as the present part of the championship?

Button wary of Hamilton example in 'tricky' situation
7 agree.
He's taking a mature, sanguine approach. Much like the "Professor", Alain Prost, would have assessed the position. However Button approaches the remaining races the "knockers" will find fault, just as they have found "excuses" for his six wins so far this season.

JYS: 'Self-destructive' F1 is 'fundamentally rotten'
2 agree.
1 disagrees.
Sadly the decline in standards in F1 mirror the same decline in societies the world over. Regarding the on-track behaviour, and comparing to the driving standards of earlier decades, it is, paradoxically, a spin-off from the vastly increased safety standards, pushed for, among others, by JYS, (and Mosley, ironically), that drivers are willing to resort to the tactics displayed by Senna, Schumacher etc. Had they been racing in earlier decades, they would never have contemplated such behaviour because of the dangers involved (and, I would like to think, because of society's higher moral attitudes).
