F1 » Hamilton ‘never intended to disrespect’ in podium celebration

Of course he didn't mean disrespect - and the podium girls have been sprayed for decades (James Hunt did a whole lot more than just spray champagne with them!!!). It's just that stupid Object woman who had to have her 15 seconds of fame - I found, as well, that their website is "down for re-construction" hahahaha - obviously can't take all the jibes levelled at them.

richard: drivers have to respect the culture of the countries that they are visiting. in china, the female is accorded far more respect that in europe or the states. it would benefit any driver to check the rules of etiquette of a country before letting loose. i am sure that nobody would spray prince albert with champagne in monaco, but they might spray harry in the uk. different countries, different standards.
Harry, yes, William no.

F1 » Ferrari revival: Where it all went right

The requirements of a race driver and test driver are totally different. For a test driver you need one able to provide good feedback and to be able to drive the car at a consistent pace and report the effect of changes on the behaviour. Highly rated drivers such as Ronnie Peterson and even the late, great Jim Clark were not particularly good test drivers - Lotus would never let Clark do more than a few laps each time they made any changes, as he would instinctively adapt his style so the effect of a change was masked. Graham Hill, and later, his son Damon, were both far better testers as they could give the engineers the feedback needed. Jimmy Clark just took the car and disappeared into the distance! So, although Alonso is, rightly, judged the best, or most complete, race driver, that in no way dictates that he would be the best test driver. Politically, though, his influence seems to be a destabilising factor wherever he has been, and that, maybe, is the flaw in his makeup.
