Refreshingly, Button was talking candidly, rather than the usual "PR Speak" so often trotted out nowadays. But inevitably the 'sour-grapes' brigade have got to snipe and sneer.
Well done Button - it's really good to have another British World Champion.

All other considerations aside, were one or more of the teams to object, you can be sure that Ferrari's memory would be long....... I don't like him, but I am intrigued to see how he adapts to this year's car - we'll probably know within 10 laps of first practice.

Hartley, that's just sick. And even without his legs he's twice the person you are.

Part 2 Then let the designers loose - you would have (once again) the most diverse set of cars on the grid. The racing wouldn't be any worse than it is - and if we're honest, F1 has rarely, in nearly 60 years, provided the sort of "spectacle" that promoters seem to crave - and because the designs would inevitably be so different, and innovative, the obscene costs for development for a nano-second's gain on a lap would disappear, or very significantly reduce. Ban fuel and tyre changes - then they've GOT to race. Take the liveries away, and how many of you could recognise one car from another??? Not so easy is it. But a Lotus 72 was as different from a BRM P153...etc etc.

So we'd have armies of lawyers arguing the definition of "minimal" - Throw the rule book away - start with an A4 piece of paper on which type: 1) Min weight xxx kgs 2) Max track xxxx cms 3) Max wheelbase xxxx cms 4) Max height xxx cms 5) Max Engine Cap. xxxx cc's continued

Just a thought - He should go back to his day-glo helmet - everything went pear-shaped when he changed the livery.

Well it worked for many years between Brands and Silverstone. However there was something of a valid reason then, with having the race shared between a southern, and a more northerly location, personal transport not being as easy as it is nowadays. But I feel Damon Hill is correct to oppose this. The only probable reason Ecclestone is suggesting this is that he knows that Donnington is going to fail to meet the deadline, and this would give them a 12 month fall-back. The GPDA's position seems to be getting stronger by the day. GOOD!

It's a very wise move on her part. She has nothing to gain really in F1 - her marketing potential in the US is huge, and she would risk losing both that, and, should she have failed to deliver, her credibility for her career beyond F1. And, for all the noises made by various parties, F1 will take years (decades even) to even come anywhere close in popularity of Nascar and IRL in the US. Granted, Fox has networked the past three races, but the team from Speed have had to "dumb down" their commentary for the wider audience. Still, at least it's a small step in the right direction.

Mario Andretti said it best many years ago "Motor racing is, sadly, also this"

Yes - Brawn is a name well known and respected by motorsports enthusiasts - but Ecclestone is not (and never has) focusing on the knowledgeable fan - he's after the man/woman "in the street" - to whom Ross Brawn's name is a relative unknown - or rather was until the OZ GP.

Did I miss John Surtees acknowledging he had been mistaken??? Well done Jenson - you've made a whole lot of people choke on humble pie. Keep it going - nice to see a professional driver with a sincere appreciation of others - not just PR speak.
