Refreshingly, Button was talking candidly, rather than the usual "PR Speak" so often trotted out nowadays. But inevitably the 'sour-grapes' brigade have got to snipe and sneer.
Well done Button - it's really good to have another British World Champion.

Regarding the Cosworth "standard" engine - I understood that the FIA would be policing this to ensure that power outputs were on a par - in fact all these comments dismissing Cosworth rathers belittles them. And let's all remember that here's another operation dedicated to racing. It would not surprise me to find their power plant to be every bit as good as the competition. Let's wait and judge the results.

@ Piercarlogassolini I quite agree that both McL and Ferrari are at heart racers. I'm not sure why you mentioned their successes - I was not thinking of the relative successes or otherwise, just that Williams are a racing team, nothing else (no road cars or suchlike).

This is why we need teams like Williams in F1 - they are RACERS - not corporate grey suits who come and go as balance sheets dictate. Long may they participate - and get back to winning ways.

You may not like what they are proposing, but maybe F1 with "spec" engines will be better than no F1 at all, and that possibility is staring you right in the face - well it would be if people took their heads out of their idealistic ****holes. Like them or not, MM and BE are trying to ensure the survival of F1. Forget private life revelations etc etc etc. This is SERIOUS - you could very soon find another oriental team deciding to go the same way....and remember, way back in the 70's & 80's, racing wasn't that bad when the DFV ruled the roost.....

Sad as this undoubtedly is, it's hardly surprising given both Honda's dire performance over the past two seasons and their past track record of pulling plugs - remember how they ditched Williams with no warning, and then pulled out while with McLaren. I hope the team IS taken on - by someone,or a group of RACERS - not grey "suits" - but then again, with the state of the world's economy, who knows? What price the first Arab F1 team??

And if he doesn't want comparisons, why have a helmet design so similar?

"It is not possible a F1 Championship without the British GP. Remember how many Brits squads are over there?" It is VERY possible, and sadly quite likely. The teams race worldwide. Where they are based is largely irrelevant. And they are multi-million $ businesses, so sentiment counts for little. Mind you, the best F1 track in the UK has not been used since '86 (Brands Hatch). Silverstone has always been a distant second-best for the spectator, so losing the GP was not so bad a thing really - and I speak as a spectator there from '73, Brands since '66.

One thing's for sure - this argument will run and run and run - will still be going on when Massa and Hamilton retire!!! But most credit to Massa for the style and dignity of dealing with his disappointment in the full unremitting glare of the media. For that he did his team proud.

And as for the Moors not marrying - it's not the "marriage" but the consummation - and they did plenty of that, without bothering about the ceremony first!!!
