MotoGP » Bautista: It won’t happen again, but penalty 'excessive'

It was Dovizioso beside Bautista, not Crutchlow. To those who can watch the replay on MGP.com it's obvious. AB's braking almost at the same time as Dovi, it's very close. The main problem, like Wilco said, is that AB was too much in the inside of the track to make the turn. Moreover he had a decent start from the 3rd line, so he was carrying more speed than the riders in front of him. That's a factor that shouldn't be underestimated as well.

Missing his breaking by 20 meters would almost mean he would've hit the apex of the corner before starting to brake. Watch the video again, in no way Bautista's braking half a second later than Crutchlow, this is madness. 5 meters is huge enough for a missed braking point already, that could 7 or 8 meters... But 20 meters is completely unreal.

What a load of crappy comments. Who said on this thread that missing that much your braking point isn't a big mistake ? It's a big one. The problem here is the inconsistency of the motogp race direction. Simoncelli, may him rest in peace, has made several bonehead moves last year, including dumbly taking out a championship contender in the 2nd corner of last year's Assen gp. It was a big and stupid mistake too. Marquez has already more dumb moves in 2 years than Alvaro Bautista in his 10 years GP career. Were they both suspended for being reckless so many times ??? NO. And for Valencia 2011, AB can't be held accountable seeing Dovizioso changed direction just in front of him at the last second. Anonymity on internet is so pernicious. It's way too easy to point the finger at someone than in real life. 90% of the comments here can't be taken seriously. Bautista's made a big mistake, no one will disagree but that was nothing but a racing incident.
