@BenSugden I was under the impression that the airbags being used were more to protect the neck-spine area rather than the shoulders as well. Mind you, now you've said that, and given the lack of injuries to Spies, Lorenzo and Simoncelli yesterday I take it that I'm mistaken. I imagine that the same airbag system could be used for the hip area to reduce pelvic damage. Trickier for arms and legs though.

Gutted. Sod's law that it happened this weekend. Amazing that after all the development that Dainese, Alpinestars et al carry out for their suits that no one has come up with a better way of protecting the vulnerable collar bones. Tricky to do without being restrictive or bulky. Airbags seem out of the question. Maybe a sort of cross-shoulder carbon fibre torsion beam or something. Either way, I hope your bones knit quickly Cal.
