I think the tyres have been a scapegoat to at least some degree. Do we have a pack of bridgestones close racing with a close racing pack of Michelins 25 seconds behind them? No we don't, the whole field is spread out in 2007. The real culprit is that the machines have gone from more power than the rider can dial in to less with the 800cc rule. Grand prix motorcycles need to have more power than the tyre can lay down to get good racing, also to ensure that the best riders can fight for the front positions.
