I really cannot believe there is 4 pages of comments on what bernie ecclestone has said to a daily rag like the star newspaper which normally only has sex and scandal stories throughout the whole newspaper if you can call it a newspaper. I think i remember the mental age of reading this issue is 8 years old and 12 for the sun and mirror.

The big problem with this statement is ferrari have been so used to their own way with the fia they totally expected the diffuser design to be banned if they pushed the issue with the fia and i cant really see it being a major issue with FOTA as all teams got through this learning curve with new designs. It is just a matter of understanding the meaning of the rules and designing youre car accordingly which brawn etc did.

will be throwing millions at the problem, renault have no chance and that is why briatore issued his scathing statement towards the brawn drivers after all it his last year in F1 as team principle for renault and ing and he is going to do nothing and so he will be remembered as a has been at renault or a flash in the pan man sometimes we can do it and sometimes we cant and in flavios case he has had a luck innings in F1. The only team i think that are going to come anywhere near brawn gp is mclaren in the next few races and remember mclaren said at asutralia that they will win in spain (alonsos home ground lol).

Simon i totally agree it is nice to see the top three teams struggle with their design on the cars but i do think it has been the fia's intention to make this happen. Alonso yes i agree he is an average driver but so are all of the other F1 drivers who are in average cars on the grid, the car makes the driver in my opinion and i think that is why frank williams does not keep champions driving his cars very often as all of the drivers are within 100 of a second if the car is setup right. I really do think that the top three will gain the ground needed to overtake brawn, ferrari continued:

spike i do not think the other teams were waiting with their millions to invest for the fia decision on the diffuser issue. I think it is already way down the pipeline to being resolved and china will be an interesting race. Brawn has already said this.

the point a lot of people are missing is that the front running teams from last year already expected the diffusers to be declared legal at the court of appeal and have already been designing a new aero package for their cars, renault has already said they will have a double deck diffuser for china which they had but were previously told was illegal. The other teams i am sure have not been sitting on their laurals waiting for a decision fromn the fia which i had already thought would be negative for the teams without diffusers.

i think you are all missing something and that is why should the other teams copy brawn etc there may be other developments on going that will close the gap without using the new diffuser design after all if you cant test it you may be wasting youre time trying to develop the car in that direction and it is not known how far brawn etc can tweak the aero package they currently have. Brawn are out of money (or so they say, i doubt it though)so they cannot surely develop the car at the rate of ferrari or mclaren can so lets wait and see what happens at the next race.

if mclaren get banned bernie and max are going to shoot themselves in the foot again this issue should have been resolved with the disqualification, the fia/stewards/whiting have just about recked F1 as a sport. Max is putting far to much power/validity in the stewards making decisions after the race is over and charlie whiting should be in charge of the saftey car and that is it.

derek0013 great conspiracy theory i love it esp the sunny concept about it. Funny Richard or Sunny has not commented on this thread. The comments of banning mclaren from F1 or even imposing a fine on them over it are farsical and laughable to say the least, the FIA themselves are in breach of most of their own regulations with the penalties that they dish out to teams in general. I think it is really the time for Ferrari to do what they said they would do and form a breakaway series from the FIA. The payments to teams would be far greater for their finishing positions as FOM would not be involved and the teams could spend the extra money on developing F1 cars with less intereference.
