MotoGP » Ducati 'must improve' for Rossi to be Rossi

There's been a few comments about Rossi being slow at the first test on the Yam in 04. He was indeed slow on the first day but he was fastest Yamaha, 3rd quickest overall and he looked quick on the bike the whole time. This looks like a much bigger ask, which is unfortunate as the Yam only got 1 podium in 03 while the Duc has had a few wins this year. Even when it wasn't winning Stoner often had it at or near the front in terms of laptimes. They have a lot to do over winter cos Vale doesn't look at all comfortable on that thing. Also, re his shoulder - Dani has nerve damage and a colar bone in several pieces, yet he's still at the fast end of the timing sheet.

Rossi on that Duc will be very interesting. It seems to me that the bike is difficult to set up and doesn't give much feedback and feel. Rossi likes a bike that's easy to ride (don't we all) and has developed the Yam in that direction. The Duc has had 1 consistant winner out of 4 top riders (Stoner, Capi, Melandri, Hayden) and it's the guy who's willing to get it all out of shape. I'm not saying Rossi wont do well, but I think he'll be more like Lawson on the Cagiva than Lawson on the Honda if you know what I mean..
