Bernie Ecelstone.
by my estimation you are 19 years old. The real Bernie is 76 ( I'm 72) and I've known the real Bernie since he was a car salesman with the honesty to suit (when he was driving and managing racing cars and teams) I'd shake his hand anytime and possibly count my fingers afterwards, but I would never take his name in vain as you obviously are.No comments you have yet made have any credence or knowledge base, so it is obvious that you are a juvenile time waster with plenty of time on your hands, so please keep away from any motor racing sites in the future, all it takes up is space and time better spent for real fans

I can remember when BE was one of the taam managers along with your friendly Dictator MM when both of them were resorting to bending rules until they squeaked whilst chasing after their great loves, money and power. Bernie still pursues money whilst max is fixated on Power (and his dream of being a Dictator) Their ideas of the perfect F1 world is I think diametrically opposed to yours and my ideas of where F1 should go now and in the future

I've known Ron D for more years than I'd care to remember and considering he, Jackie S Frank W and Ken Tyrell are (and were) the most committed F1 managers of their time, they did more than any others I can think of, make decisions regarding drivers and their possible futures for the sport, as much as their team advantages. RD this last 12 months has made the first error of his career. The moment that he found out about PDLR and Alonso and their private text and e-mail contacts which caused the massive fines and points loss,he should have either sacked them both or sent them on gardening leave as he did his Chief engineer. His knowledge of LH and his driving record he knew intimately

Hi Max Well, Good point about f3000 I'd forgotten about that, the main thing I was trying to say was the difference 4 years of US racing would have on a european trained driver and Seb's return after that period could make a difference to his possible performance this first season back, and that a good comparison would be Justins F1 record before he joined Seb over the pond

Some very good comments here,US bred racing drivers have a difficult time these days in adapting to european style racing because of the reliance on the dreaded oval tracks, which have a completely different approach tactically, and also thy tend to stop running immediately track conditions change, accident or weather for instance. This means european training lends itself better to transfer to US as in say Justin Wilson for instance. A comparison with Sebs euro performance with Justins would be a fair benchmark this season

Here is a question for all you negative posters on this forum: Did you read the article you are posting on ? All F1 drivers of British and Commonwealth extraction are eligible. Our Commonwealth drivers are just as deserved of mention, even when you are knocking its existence in the first place

Alan you've got your figures wrong there , old son. on 10th Jan. Hamilton (1;19;132) and Kovalainen(1:19:462) both in Mclarens on 15th Jan. Alonso (1:19.503) and De la Rosa (1:19:650) Renault and Mclaren plus a couple more beat the Toyota time previously.Must agree with you though about reading too much into early test times, but it certainly looks like a good 2008 in in store for us all as long as the teams and drivers are left alone to get on with it

Well guys, I must say this is how a forum should work, what a joy. When this debacle was at its height just before the race, a reason for the problem was put forward that the surface was lightly grooved to facilitate drainage. I never got any replies at the time as to the outcome of the experimental surface, did any of you tech guys out there see any data comebacks from this?

Over the years the Qualifying has taken so many forms that we seem to have lost the plot somewhat,do you remember the 107% rule when you had to qualify just to enter the race, that was only effective if you had more entries than starters. Since then we seem to have changed to a qualifying system that is designed to give tactical team desisions the main overtaking oppotunity through pit stops. I feel that we've gone backwards here,it hasn't given TV what they want either. I think that a marriage between A1 GP and F1 3 rounds could work.Session 1. all teams 1 x3 laps each 2. last 16 1 x 3 laps each. 3. last 10 2x 3 laps each. Fuel would be a subject debate for the teams to discuss,

Taking the article as a theme,I personally will be taking an interested look at McClarens new car with 2008 in mind .Being just after Ferrari's launch it will be a good visual comparison before we have the first testing head to heads for performance and driver info.I'm looking forward to it all, including BMW - Renault, Williams - Red Bull etc, to hell with all the infantile comments. A great season in the offing for us all Posted bt Trevor Taylor
