MotoGP » Cyber war? Repsol Honda compare Stoner, Rossi stats

*continued* of the last 11 years! Even during the years he's been beat. Comparing the 2 is like comparing Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. On paper, Mayweather (Stoner) may look better but, in a straight-out fight between the 2, in alot of people's minds (maybe most, including Mayweather's), Pacquio(Rossi) has the edge. It's been this way during most of the close fights between Rossi and Stoner. Even in 2007 when Stoner had to use the raw speed of the Ducati to make up time that Rossi took from him on the more technical parts of some of the tracks. Something tells me that if it came down to a head to head fight between Stoner and Rossi when everything is close to equal (health and bikes), Stoner would prefer it be anyone other than Rossi he's fighting.

You're right Catch Up, Rossi did crash alot last year but, Ducati, with the help of Rossi and company, were making alot of radical changes last year as well trying to make the bike better. I'm no expert, just like most of the people who comment here but, it seems to me that crashing a bike that you just started riding that is also constantly being updated is alot different than crashing a bike that you've been on for the last 4 years. Especially when the updates weren't helping. Regardless of whoevers input the updates were based on. Rossi and Burgess got alot of things wrong last year and they admitted it themselves but, time will show us all if Ducati will continue to go forward or stay the same/go backwards in development as they did with Stoner.

Maaan, this whole rival is tiring to talk about these days but, I still can't help but to read all the comments and want to reply. For me, everything is so clear to see. Without a doubt, Stoner is a very fast rider and is fast on just about anything. Heck, he was very fast at times in 2006 as well but, one thing that plagued him from 2006 up till the start of last year was his ability to throw the bike down road as fast as he could get it around the track sometimes. Also, "to me" he's not the fighter Rossi is. All of this "Head to head" stuff means nothing to me. Yeah, if Stoner gets out front, he's gone and that's all. Yes, I know the name of the game is to get ahead of everyone as fast as possible but, I think most of us like to see a scrap to from time to time and whether Rossi has been on the best bike or not for most of his career, he still finds a way to make MotoGP interesting. Also, regardless to whether he's been winning or not, Rossi has still been the most highlighted rider

Love Rossi or hate him, this shows that he is still the most talked about person in all of MotoGP. If it wouldn't have been for Marco's unfortunate death, I bet there would have been more stories in this blog about Rossi. Even if they were all about him struggling on the Duc. While I agree that no one is bigger than the sport, Valentino Rossi is definately bigger than anyone in the sport right now.

BSB » Tommy Hill wins 2011 BSB title by 0.006secs!

I'm right there with you Ladas! I know people will say stuff like, "Even if he wouldn't have had the mechanical problem, he could have still crashed out"....ETC....... True, anything could have happened but, Hopper would have more than likely finished in a great position going into the last race which would have put him as champ now. Things didn't work out that way and it truly s-ucks for him!
