The job of the factory is to translate the riders wishes or recommendations into machinery. Ducati have been unable to do so, or at least are to slow on the uptake. It is clear that they are running out of ideas. Do you think Dovi's input will do the trick? Audis production potential? I doubt it. In 2007, with the 800 and handmade Bridgestones, they were at their peak. Stoner made best use of it.

You guys are putting a lot of words into peoples mouths and draw a lot of quick conclusions forgetting one thing: Valentino Rossi is the most popular and well known motorcycle racer still in action. Millions around the world want to see him do well. It is something that transcends the sport and especially your personal taste. Him back on a competitive bike with a shot at racewins, let alone another championship, will make millions happy and fill up the grandstands again. Everyone knows he will one day retire but he is not done yet. The mere fact that he wants to continue in MotoGP for a couple of more years makes people watch the sport.
