What a refreshing artical by Guintoli. Blah blah and damo make some very valid points. I am sure guys, if it had not been Rossi getting beaten by a huge margin in 2007, we would not be seeing so much negativity from the Rossi fans. I am not a Stoner fan, I never have been but I can admit he is a huge talent and even though he has only won 1 world premier class title, it is one more than 99.9999999999999999999999999% of people will ever win.

There is no doubt that Rossi is one of the all time greats, but it seems to be the die hard Rossi fans cant see beyond the rose coloured glasses they wear.

Stoner is one of the greats now with a world championship, maybe not a Rossi, but who cares.

I have followed Troy since his Superbike days here in Australia. What can I say about the man. A car spray painter from a small town on the north coast of NSW doing it tough with a young family, who took a huge risk too become a 3 times WSBK world champion and a MotoGP race winner all in his 30's. A real sportsman with no huge ego, a real role model to kids and adults alike on what being a sportsman is all about. My sporting idol has now retired and the WSBK paddock will not be the same. Thanks for the memories Troy, I still have dozens of DVD's to go back an watch. You have replaced Patrick Rafter as the best Aussie Sportsman in so many years. Please don't bring Stoner into this either.

Good to see the Holden faithful disagree with my comments. Funny thing is Russell Ingal is a few years older than Mark Skaife and he has a new lease on life with PMM. It is also strange that this has all happened up after the Bathurst loss, where Mark Skaife put the car into the wall. The majority of other great Australian drivers have done a farewell season, where to say goodbye to the fans, yet Mark Skaife's retirement has come out of the blue. Again this is bad form from TW towards one of Australia's great driver, just like Peter Brock and it's Deja Vu. HRT faithful, keep supporting Tom W in his support for great australian drivers like Brock and Skaife.

This is deja vu all over again PB back in the late 90's and now Skaife. I don't know if it was due to passion or being pushed to leave full time driving. Zenith, I don't know where you come up with the admired by everyone. I know many fans who have never liked him, yet admired PB when he was at Holden. I have several memories of his arrogance and dummy spits over the years. Let another Holden Hero pushed by TW and the Holden. It makes you question the team ownership issues as HRT as well. :D

Damo, you are obviously a true bike racing fan and not someone who has jumped onto the series due to a single rider, with NFI. TC has been around for years in WSBK, not as long at GP but it has been around, contary to what some of the so called long term GP/Rossi fans tell us. The electronics on the R1 this year is pretty high tech, it even has sensors in the suspension which can soften or harden the suspension as the rider goes into, through and out of a corner. IIRC this is not standard on a road going bike. It's amazing with all these electronic aids on the SBK that certain riders tell us SBK would be a much better series, then whine about electronic aids in GP

Smithy, come on mate Paul 46 is obviously a pom so the whinger part is natural. With the 46 in his name that would make him a Rossi fan, I wonder why it's not Paul 52, maybe his jumps from bandwagon to bandwagon. I will sit down an watch the race this afternoon, At least Andrew won races this time in his world championship. Having met Andrew a few times, he has done it tough to leave home and battle on a foreign country to make a name for himself. I guess those, who race so close to home with family, sponsors and creature comforts would have no idea. It has been a roller coaster ride for Andrew and it's fantastic to see him with a 2nd World championship.

Race 2 was vintage Bayliss. One more race and that's it for Troy. Not bad for a car spray painter from Taree, NSW. Well done Troy and good luck mate. Make the last 2 races something special and lets hope 1 last GP ride might be on the cards.

Good for the sport.. Some very good comments made by you and a few other. Do we know as of yet if the MotoGP single tyre rule will be the same as WSBK with 3 different compounds or will it be single tyre with a huge range of compounds and certain riders will get special treatment? If we do go back to the days of certain riders getting special tyres, what will this new rule achieve? A Spanish, Italian world championship?

Doodaa Thats great the you think Ducati will get fair treatment and you have singled them out. What about Suzuki and Kawasaki? Last time I looked they were a part of the championship. I guess it makes it attractive for someone like BMW is they wanted to join the series. Zydon, Maybe make Dunlop, Metzler or Pirelli the control tyre. I don't have a drama with that. I still think the need to go with the 3 compounds, just like the World Supers.

MORE from my previous post. One last thing. I think back 12 months and I remember a swag of people on this forum, under various unregistered user names telling us we needed a single tyre rule to make it fair, how the series was being destroyed. Isn't it amazing, the same weekend we have the new 2008 world champion + the single tyre rule is announced. People are suddenly against it and it is no good for the series. Who would have thought this would have happened. :-o I cant wait to see a heap of disagrees, it will go to proving me right.
