What a refreshing artical by Guintoli. Blah blah and damo make some very valid points. I am sure guys, if it had not been Rossi getting beaten by a huge margin in 2007, we would not be seeing so much negativity from the Rossi fans. I am not a Stoner fan, I never have been but I can admit he is a huge talent and even though he has only won 1 world premier class title, it is one more than 99.9999999999999999999999999% of people will ever win.

There is no doubt that Rossi is one of the all time greats, but it seems to be the die hard Rossi fans cant see beyond the rose coloured glasses they wear.

Stoner is one of the greats now with a world championship, maybe not a Rossi, but who cares.

Macbeth, you never watched CV on the brand new 4 cyl honda back in his superbike days? This was when he was the only rider too really take it to Suzuki and Corser. That was when JT was on the Factory Ducati. Gaz, I have been thinking the same thing about Andrew Pitt. I think he deserves more credit in the development of the R1, prior to Corser wandering in. I think Ducati need a rider who can develop a bike, not just someone who jumps on. This is the reason why the Xerox team were looking at CV, due to his development work on the Ten Kate Honda.

It was a great race and it had the things and many people complained about over the past few years, racing. Maybe Stoner should have kept his trap shut. I am of the opinion that it would have been Stoner race, if he had of shown more control. But we will never know if he could have beaten Rossi. I also think back to last year, when another rider was critical of Toni Elias. Who was that rider? Did he get howled down for being a sook and a whinger? I guess some people have selective memories. Well done CV, keep it going mate, you made my weekend. My favorite rider did not need to win to make me happy. I hope Stoner learns from the last race and is a better rider for it.

Lanski You have made some very good comments and I think you remarks are 100% correct. Still going off previous comments made in this forum (not by you). Lorenzo is a crasher, and any wins will only come from TC & other electronic aids. Lorenzo is on the top factory Yamaha, just like Stoner was on the LCR Honda. Getting back to adult mode, you are right the talent that has come into the ranks over the past 2 - 3 seasons is the best we have seen in a long time. There riders and I would throw Dovi into the mix as well are more good enough to fight and win races. For VR to win a championship now with these riders, will put him at all time top of the heap.

I have read that the Stoners bike not only has better traction control, it also have ESP which helped keep his bike up-right during the race and stops him from falling off. This ESP (Electronic Stability Program) only comes out on Service pack 3 on the Ducati software. Can some of the Rossi groupies confirm this for us please? :D

non-plussed If that was the case and I guess Eddie Lawson does not agree with many other riders, what do you put CV's poduim and race victory and podium at PI (a track where the Suzuki has struggled for many years) down to? The suzuki had struggled in prac and qual sessions and yet the rain comes down the he is ultra quick and goes from 14th to 3rd. Did Bridgestone fly in a special tyre for him, maybe the Suzuki has a special kind of TC, ESP that only works in the wet and only for CV?

I found it amazing they people comment on how rain evens the playing field up, I have heard many a past and present racer say this. I guess this is evident with the podium position of the Suzuki, and even the race win for CV last year. If this is the case and I believe it to be true, then why is Stoner not finishing mid pack in the wet, when all things are supposed to be even? It can't be because of the rain in New South Wales and South East Queensland, where the 3 riders come from. These sections of Australia and many other part have been in drought for over 10 years. Why is that Stoner is not mid pack in the wet, when rain evens everything out??????????

Duckbill, Can you explain why VR made a big deal about JB coming across to Yamaha? I have even read that VR put alot of his success down to JB as did Mick Doohan. IMO the win on the Yamaha after Rossi switched from Honda, was due to the engineers that moved across from Honda along with VR who was able to work with the engineers and get the issues resolved. I would say the same would have been with the chatter issues the Honda. It like hitting your head against a wall in here, even Rossi and other riders have come out an said the best package wins, not just the best rider or best bike. I guess being the number 1 boy at Michelin would have helped as well, with the best tyres.

Great effort from Chris and Loris. Still the Suzuki seems to have an issue with the extra grip from the Qual tyres. Chris can ride a bike in the dry. I look back to his efforts in his 2nd season on the Ten Kate Honda in WBSK and he was the only guy to challenge Troy Corser and was the runner up in the championship. This was the 2nd season that Ten Kate was in WSBK and the 2nd year of the Honda 4. He even blitzed 2 times world champion James Toseland who was on the factory Ducati. I wonder what would have happened this year if Chris had of taken the Yamaha offer up from last year and not stayed loyal to Suzuki and Paul Denning. Good luck Chris at Laguna Seca, and let hope for a podium.

What do Ducati really have to gain from putting Sete on the bike? They would be much better off putting someone like Guintoli on, who has some ok results and is still young. They need to look past some dinosour from the past, who had 1 good season and look towards the future. With Melandri, he has painted himself into a corner. I dont see him getting a ride on the other 2 top tier machines. Yamaha have 4 very good riders, who I cant seen them wanting to replace. Honda have the 2 HRC bikes with Pedrosa, and I think Dovi is the other obvious choice for a ride. He can go back the Gresini, but they are not setting the world on fire. Is Kawasaki going to be a better option? Good luck Marco

Yes I agree guys. Colin is one of the nice guys and it will be great to see him again in 09. Lets hope he can find that premier class victory. He certainly is on the good machine, and as the number 1 team rider will be getting the full support of the team, in place of been the tyre tester :)
