FIA Statement: Formula 1 2009
"Overtaking to be banned next season because its too dangerous"

BLOODY DISGUSTING! terrible decision by the stewards, what advantage did he gain for goodness sake? i hope mclaren appeal and win for the sake of F1! i just knew that this would happen, it deters the drivers from trying. you never would have had senna penalised for such things.

has completely ruined one of the most entertaining races of the year.

having thought about it nearly all day since hearing the news i have these thoughts... > even though bernie is a money man, i really cant see him allowing his sport, on which he make millions on, being only partly show, missing the end of the race etc. ok, maybe you might have to red button it to watch pre race show/post race. but i can live with that > the BBC are bound to have some scheduling rearangements on sundays to accomodate this. the amount i expect they paid for it, i expect they would have quite extensive coverage, not have some hour highlight show for the early morning races either. > commentary wise, tbh i fully expect it to remain pretty much the same, i cant think...

lots of comments saying 'but remember the poor coverage before ITV got it.' well i reckon it will be different, now theres no more grandstand, F1 is bigger now internationally, they seemed to make quite a fuss on it on the news this morning; and that now on the BBC there is less sport, now left with 6 nations, wimbledon, the occasional davis cup match, MotoGP and athletics, and with live FA cup games going to ITV next year ;) there used to be cricket (which would take up a lot more TV Time) more football, and a lot more other sports that got occasional showing. but my biggest hope, bring back the Fleetwood Mac themetune at the start. so long have i missed that!

absolutely. the olympics is the biggest waist of money in this country ever. ok its good too have it, but 12bn is absurd. to secure the GP, which has a longer term effect on this country (in a positive way), what with so many teams being based in the UK, is just a fraction on what we'll be paying for for years to come. nothing against athletics btw. lol

so i guess the pit speed limit button also defaults the car straight into neutral? something that is clear from the onboard telemtry available during that grand prix. a baffling comment from a Ferrari employee.

actually, Alan Gow owns BTCC, Tony George owns IRL, The France's are involved with NASCAR. Tony Teixeira is A1GP's, to name but four.

agree with Savas & FooAtari. they should ban all the flicks on the top of the side pods. perhaps have a frame that the sidepod shape has too match too, like NASCAR do when they place a frame over the car to make sure all bits are the right height/width etc.

abslutely agree MRG, even though im in the UK. i love the novelty of waking up at 2 AM to watch the Australian GP at the start of the season. and the race is repeated anyway for those who want to sleep. As Jonov says, i reckon bernie needs to find a gap or two for future grand prix in Korea, Abu Dhabi, India etc. would be a big shame to see Aus go.

german paper saying german drivers preferred by german engine supplier. i think mclaren have made the right decision now anyway. i would have picked kovalienen straight away if i was running the team. nothing against Rosberg and Vettel. both i expect will do well this year for what they have to race with. but heikki would have been my choice.
