Quote of the day: "However there is a long way to go in the championship and I intend to win it".
Does this guy ever learn? He's been lapped in a Mclaren, he fumbled his start, I'm sure that he's lost some friends on the track due to his angry gesticulations towards them, he comes in in 13th place behind Fissicchell in a Forc India car, and still he does not feel humiliated, humbled or subdued in the slightest.
".....I intend to win it". Jesus, he's been humbled and in a fast McLaren to boot, not in one race but in the last two, and yet......

Raikkonen win extends championship lead.

Lexxxa, keep up the good posts coming. Yes I am involved in sports and I agree with you that the first aim of any sportsman is to prepare himself to be able to win. But, and this is very important, any sportsman must respect the capabilities of his peers in any sport. If you underestimate someone, then that person could be your downfall. Listen to Kimi speak. That man is a symbol of diplomacy. He never says, I want to win, I intend to be the next WDC, I aim to win, I want to be the greatest F1 driver ever, ad nauseam.... You want me to give Lewis some credit? Yes, he's a fast driver, he could be much better if he stops focusing on himself and focus on the job instead.

Finnish pleasure and pain in Spain.

Mika, at the moment there is not one single car that is a match for the Ferraris. They are miles ahead of everyone in development and speed. Lewis was going all out throughout the race, but both Kimi and Felipe were administering the race as it suited them without any undue pressure on their cars. They were running on new engines which have to be used again in the next race. The Renault is no match for the McLarens, I agree with you, but you cannot deny the fact that its improvement is noteworthy and that Fernando drove it to perfection both in qualifying and during his 33 laps before his engine blew.

Raikkonen win extends championship lead.

....the ire and condemnation of all of us. One thing which transpired from all our previous speculations about light fuel loads is the fact that Fernando pitted on lap 16 and was followed only five laps later by the Ferraris. So the Renault did have a good improvement, but alas engine reliability let them down. errorxp, with ref to your comment " loud mouthed raw rookie" which was aimed at me, what I can tell you is that "I intend to win" "I aim to win" did not in fact win. He is an also ran who came in 3rd, albeit having a very good race and if you note just 2 to 4 seconds ahead of Kubica and Mark Webber both of whom also had a splendid race. Credit were it's due please!!!!!

Hi robert, I'm here. Could not post before due to a family lunch, but I did watch the race. Not really much to comment except that it was a good race and am sorry first for Heiki, who I hope will get better soon, and second for Alonso who sufferred from a blown engine. The drivers were not to blame for these mishaps. Heiki suffered a broken suspension and malfunction of the steering, and FA's engine blew. So what do you want me to say? 5th/6th were the realistic target for FA. Ralf registered, with a name like "causeIcan" that idiot can hardly be Spanish, so you owe all Spanish posters here an apology. Anyone wishing any F1 driver to be injured in an accident like that deserves....

Ferrari on pole as Alonso plays joker.
5 agree.
8 disagree.
Fernando's leap in pace is phenomenal. Some sceptics here are saying its maybe due to a light fuel load, other wiser posters are waiting until tomorrow to see the real pace. No matter what the reason is the Renault has improved by leaps and bounds, and one thing that we can be assured of is that if the car is reliable, then Renault's strategy has already been worked out. dean o, we are talking about a 2xWDC here and not about a loud mouthed, raw rookie, who is now finding that jumping in the deep end when you can just swim can be very dangerous.

Raikkonen takes Spanish pole.

My God!!!! The Ferrari''s split apart by Fernando''s Renault and the McLarens nowhere to be seen in 5th and 6th place on the grid. I''m not going to dump more salt on the wound, but this goes to show how much McLaren are in reality missing Fernando. Did he develop and improve the car, and did he serve as a motivator for his team to improve it to such an extent? I think that this result speaks for itself. Of course the full proof of the pudding is in the eating, so let''s see what shall happen tomorrow in the actual race. Fernando has already done the impossible for one weekend.

Campos: McLaren are missing Alonso.
15 agree.
5 disagree.
It''s good to be proven right. Campos is 100% correct in saying that McLaren are missing the input of Fernando. Last year by this time, they were leading both the CC and the WDC points, and the cars were a force to be reckoned with. Three races after the start of the season and McLaren just discovered that their car have a lot of vices and defects, that it suffers from understeer, have digital control problems that could switch of the engine, and generally causing Lewis to finish 7th and 13th after the freak race in Oz which he won. 8 years in the doldrums must be very frustrating for a team which could have had it all last year but failed to cash in with a dream team. JS is also spot on.

Mosley scandal prompts Israel U-turn.
2 agree.
1 disagrees.
Max Mosley has brought the FIA and the whole motorsport in disrepute. If he cannot see this than he is the worse for it. When invitations start to be so blatantly withdrawn by international and national organizations and now also officially by Governments, then the FIA is in real trouble if the General Assembly does not kick Max out. He should take the only way out left to him - RESIGN.

'Fresh' Hamilton up for the fight.
3 agree.
2 disagree.
errorxp, where did he say he made a mistake, he said something went wrong, and where did I mention mistakes in my post? Can't you read? I quoted verbatim what he said and commented on it. The man is contradicting himself because he speaks far too much. He's judging himself on last years results and has been measuring every other driver against that, but this year it is another story with more competition. Lewis is lost this year without Fernando's setups and McLaren knows this. errorxp I think that you are full of BS more than him, 'cause you cannot send in an intelligent post or contribution to the debate.

'Fresh' Hamilton up for the fight.
3 agree.
4 disagree.
..... this does not bother him in the slightest, then he flops a race in a good performing car, but still wants to win more than ever. He's judging himself by last years results, but this is a new season and another kettle of fish altogether. He's not sorry for himself, only for the team, but they and his family were very supportive!!!!!! What did he do exactlt after the race? Cry on Ron Dennis's shoulders, or boohooed on his father's. The chap is contradicted himself and he'll do much better if he concentrates on racing rather than to hypnotise himself with winning dreams.
