Quote of the day: "However there is a long way to go in the championship and I intend to win it".

Does this guy ever learn? He's been lapped in a Mclaren, he fumbled his start, I'm sure that he's lost some friends on the track due to his angry gesticulations towards them, he comes in in 13th place behind Fissicchell in a Forc India car, and still he does not feel humiliated, humbled or subdued in the slightest.

".....I intend to win it". Jesus, he's been humbled and in a fast McLaren to boot, not in one race but in the last two, and yet......

Sometimes some posters here, although I'm sure that they mean well, talk with their hearts rather than with their mind. I have not down trodden BMW-Sauber in any way, in fact I gave them all credit due to them for being such a good organization. What I emphasised on, and I mean it, is that they still need, and the sooenr they get him the better a specialist development racing driver. The cars are nearly up there, but they still need that fine tuning that will make them race winners. As I said both Kubica and Heidfeld might be fast drivers, especially Kubica, so is Lewis and so are Kimi and Felipe, but they all fall short of the talent or committed inclination to develop their cars 100%.

"....and I don''t think that anyone is going to run away with any of the titles this year" - McLaren''s Whitemarsh. Coming from a team manager who''s team has not won anything for the last 8 years this is very rich. From 2000 to date, Mclaren have been trashed silly 6 times by Ferrari and twice by Renault. They did not win one single race in 2006. Last year they trashed and whipped themselves witless, (sado-masochism is the in thing in motorsport at the moment), due to a disastrious strategy and mis-management of its drivers policy. Spygate din''t help either. Ferrari and now BMW seem to have better packages, and it will not be a surprise if McLaren are left foundering again in ''08.

I fail to understand the excuses that are brought forward by drivers, team managers and others when they do not do so well in a race. Flat spots, punctures, hitting of the cruising button, bad starts due to lack of acceleration or wheel spin, bad aeros, etc etc. Surely these are common to all cars and drivers on most occassions. Results are results and what counts is the bottom line. A win is supreme, and 2nd is the first loser. We have the current WDC coming in 2nd in a superlative car, and the previous 2xWDC coming in 10th in a dog. All the rest finished according to there ability in the race. No more no less. Will HK be better than LH, RK or NH in the coming races? You tell me.

BMW-Sauber is one of the top works team with a good budget, solid people behind it and a prestige car manufacturer and engine supplier to boot. But they are in the same predicament as Toyota at the moment. Why predicament? Both teams have made major strides forward this year and both could be in a position to challenge for podiums and wins. What they lack is a top notch development, race driver to develop the car as quickly as possible race by race and to feed the engineers with 100% reliable feedback. Kubica is fast but not experienced, Nick and Jarno are not really up there and Glock is a raw rookie. The cars are good but they are not being driven to their maximum limit.

chimi, Felipe for starters won the last GP. that is the Bahrain GP from 2nd on the grid. LH has still to do that. As Robsy said it's still early days to start calling the season, and we have to wait until Barcellona to see what improvements most cars, especially Renault, come out with. If the form remains the same then it will surely be a Ferrari/BMW-Sauber, with a McLaren follow up all season. Too bad Fernando is not at BMW instead of Heidfeld. I do not want to start controversies but Nick has been in F1 far too long without really getting anywhere. I think that he's in the same strata as Jenson Button.

In Australia Lewis started on pole and got away quickly from the mayhem and havoc that was reigning behind him. Most cars were effected by adverse conditions during the race resulting in only 6 cars finishing. Both in Malaysia and Bahrain he did not start from pole so his final placings were the same as those of a normal driver in a midfield car. I agree with Lauda when he said that Lewis is putting far too much pressure on himself, intending, wanting, aiming, wishing or dreaming that he could win the WDC this year. His' and Mclaren's strategy last year were disastrious both for Lewis and for the team. Lewis finished with an inflated ego, and McL finished with nothing.

@George Mitchell Jr, Alias George. I just left the rest of the contributors to take a pot shot at you, and by the look of things you certainly got it in the butt, so much so that your a.ss must be redder than that other twerps' Max Mosley. You must have posted more than twenty posts in the last few hours, I think that Ralf was right when he said that you must be just a fat slob looking for an urgument because that's what you have been doing all along; arguing with everyone like a moron without a cause. I told you that you are an ignorant person and a dozen others have agreed with me, so shut up and go to sleep. End of subject, end of argument.

Joe you are correct, they can revise any contract to suit them. One thing is sure that Fernando will not stay with a team that does not perform, but in any case as Forest Gump used to say, "F1 is a box of chocolate, you never know what you are going to get" (sorry for the adaptation). So wherever he moves on to, it's always going to be a gamble.

Why was it an unusual situation? Lewis found himself from 3rd on the grid to 11th at the start and he paniced. He overtook Webber and came behind Fernando. At the turn on lap 2, Fernando was on his racing line and Lewis crash banged his car at the back of Fernando's car damaging both cars in the process. Lewis eventually finished 13th and Fernando had to settle for 10th witout a point as a result that he was driving a damaged car due to no fault of his own. End of story. Let's assume for a moment that FA brake tested LH, What then? On the other hand if LH crashed into FA's car due to being negligent in his driving, Then what? There' two sides to this racing incident.

George Mitchell Jr, this forum is for discussion and debate between Formula 1 enthusiasts and your very personal attack is uncalled for. Of course every diver wants to win, but what is being criticised above is not what a driver wants but the sheer arrogant attitude of the way Lewis comes out with saying things as if there is no one else on the track racing him. The way you have written your post does mark you as someone that knows absolutely nothing about F1, and with a name like that I think that you should stick to basketball and popcorn. I will not call you an idiot but you are definetely an ignorant person.
