Am so pleased Shinya hasn't been pushed out of racing. Like Guintoli, they've never been provided with the "top-shelf" MotoGP bikes so have only ever been pretty mediocre in the points and (perceived) talent. It's a shame Guintoli wasn't offered a WSB ride, as the series has been (let's be honest) far more exciting to watch than MotoGP these last couple of years.

Would be interested to know what the TV viewing figures of WSB are like over the last few years. Bet they've been steadily growing again. Seems to be getting more and more popular with race fans as the place for thrilling action (as also noted by Mr Rossi).

Good luck to Shinya, I'll be rooting for him, he's a true gentleman.

I bet ALL motogp riders and teams will be very concerned and worried about this. Have the bosses at WSB only been contacted by Melandri about a ride? If Melandri goes WSB (and Hopkins would be a double whammy), the pendulum will be firmly swinging in the WSB camp. I still wonder if Rossi's recent flirting with WSB goes further than we thought? A backup plan, just in case MotoGP collapses... By the way, interesting point by Morgue... If the FIM insist on a minimum of 18 bikes on the grid, one of the teams HAS to add another bike! Sad state of affairs in MotoGP

"If Ducati can field three bikes Suzuki should surely be able to run three? " Surely if they'd had the budget, they would have done that already? If anything I would have thought Suzuki might be cutting the budget for 2009 not add to the cost. The racing division at Suzuki asking for a bigger budget after Kawasaki have just pulled out? Hmmm...

Morgue does that mean Moviestar and Monster would sponsor Hopper's team / bike completely? I doubt Suzuki would be willing to or have the budget for another bike in the current climate, particularly with all the cutbacks?

the MotoGP foundations are a shakin''... Is this the beginning of the end? - Well some would say that has been happening since the switch to 800''s, but one of the big 5 pulling out? Will Suzuki be the next to go? No wonder Mr Rossi has been hyping up WSB''s, perhaps he knows that''s where the near future of bike racing is... Real shame, will miss green on the grid...

I really hope Triumph make a bigger impact in WSS in 2009. Of course, they won the BSS championship with Glen Richards on the Daytona 675, but if they do well in WSS, it's only a matter of time before they enter WSB - they need a big bike to complement the 675 though yet, but a 1050cc triple Daytona is coming (we've already got a 1050cc Tiger and Sprint ST) - watch this space in 2009. If you follow Triumph bike development in 2007/2008, you just KNOW it's gonna be hot! ... and perhaps one day (a good few years from now yet) MotoGP, that would be awesome. P.S. I've owned twins and fours, but once you have ridden a 3 cylinder bike, there ain't no going back!

Hi Sylvan, just wondered if you ride bikes on the road for pleasure too or just racing... if so, what do you ride?

Was reading an interview with Colin in MCN... Boy is he bitter about the switch! Perhaps understandably so, but will this new "Genius" help him improve his results? We''ll see... Colin''s one of my favourite riders and a great guy, but even I reckon it is bout time he moved on...

"He also tried to punt dani off the track at sachsenring and was banned for a couple of rounds" Everyone loves a Rebel... Rock 'N' Roll Jorge! He's gonna be the next big personality when Rossi leaves, whether he wins or not...

Ain't it funny how you can change your opinion of a rider? In 250's, I always thought Lorenzo was an arrogant Rossi wannabe who looked to be on far superior machinery to everyone else... I was wrong! This year he has shown a great maturity and some real professional class. I bet I'm not the only one who's suprised. He is very fast, an interesting guy and no doubt a major contender in the future. How often did you hear him moan in the press? He made mistakes and admitted they were his mistakes, he didn't blame his bike. He showed true grit riding with those injuries which were obviously very painful. He didn't complain... Of the new breed, I'd like to see him succeed... Go Jorge
