Rossi after his Valencia fall, 2006: "When you fall, is always a mistake..."
Stoner after his Misano fall, 2008: "The tyre just let go"
No matter how much I want to like Stoner, I just cannot. He doesn't help at all.

Laterrus - thanks for the comment. I am not a hardcore Rossi fan per se, I even disliked him until the end of 2003 but seeing what he did in 2004 I changed my mind completely. What he did was extraordinary and never done before in the history of the sport. Reading his autobiography is very insightful in his reasons for this. However, a rider's abilities come from all places he drains strength from: His family, his team, his talent and most of all, his motivation. I really believe that there is nothing more for him to prove. He knows that and maybe he lacks that little bit of motivation that is needed to get someone from second to first. Maybe (and hopefully) I'm wrong, only time will tell.

Am I missing something here? A 7-times world champion is crap and won because he always had the best bike. A 1-time world champion has proven he has superior genetics.
This forum is getting really interesting indeed! Bring it on...

I think it will be Rossi himself who might want to change teams or retire altogether if he doesn't finish at least second in the championship. Rossi is still a top notch rider, one of the strongest title contenders and I think Yamaha are wiser than to just sack him because he didn't win the championship. And thinking about that, more so since their bike broke down so often in 2006 and was so slow in 2007...

It's an unfortunate fact for me that Stoner, a likeable and very talented rider ended up with Ducati, which as far as arrogance goes, challenge the likes of Honda. Livio Suppo in particular gives me the creeps with how cold-blooded he was in sacking Loris and more so in the way he did it, after so many years of effort from Loris. In a way I'm glad that Melandri until now isn't showing any better signs than Loris.

Rossi reaches tax settlement?

Rossi has undoubtedly damaged the sport. This is the awful truth that everybody knew but no-one dared to admit. He made it so popular that now its a problem handling all those fans. Rossi go away please, you are damaging MotoGP... Bwaaaahahaaaaaaa......
This is so funny... Ace27 I hope you aren't on drugs man...

Pedrosa becomes number two.

He still hasn't persuaded me as a rider. He is blisteringly fast on occasion but his braking is lacking and his general attitude is boring. I'm really glad we have all this young hot blood in, Lorenzo, De Angelis and Dovizioso, those guys were insane on the 250s
