F1 » Verstappen gets 2015 Toro Rosso drive

@Indianbear Next year's production bike will have this years factory engine in it (if you pay for it and I am sure a team with Miller will get that for free). So basically you are looking at a 2010 based Honda frame with a 2014 factory pneumatic valved engine in it with extra fuel to burn. The Honda's will be like Forward Yamaha's next year. Bloody fast in the hands of talent.

F1 » Verstappen gets 2015 Toro Rosso drive

@Smile35 I doubt Verstappen brings any money. Lucky in karts that his dad knows what he was doing and had the cash and the name to pay for it, But Verstappen is not bringing money to F1 like Doornbos or that other Dutch guy with a rich father in law. And I am sure that daddy Verstappen knows some people, but has also burned many bridges in his career. It is said that Red Bull wanted Verstappen in their program in 2010 already, but Verstappen sr. did not want to sign and let Max follow his program.

If he is succesful, do you respect that less because he skipped the lower classes? Personally I am a bit surprised, but I guess Red Bull aint stupid. If he fails, not my problem. If he succeeds to Ferrari/RBR/Mercedes, good for him. Hope he is able to show the same driving in F1 like he showed in karts and this year in F3. And while I think about it, why would driving around at the front in a top GP2 slash 3 or other feeders series team be any better than learning the real deal in a middle class F1 team where the driver really has to make all the difference to show his full potential.

MotoGP » Rossi: Marc’s wins the rider, mine the Honda...

It's a long time ago, but I believe it was generally accepted at that time that it was the perfect combo. Best rider on the best bike. And to be honest, Yamaha was not the best bike after Rainey's accident (even at that time it was not the best bike anymore). It took the best rider, Furusawa's engineering and Burgess setup to take Yamaha back to the top. Hell, even when Honda could not win, it was an effin Suzuki that won the championship in Rossi's debut year. The two years before that Yamaha was nowhere with their front end problems and Max Biaggi. So now we are in the same situation again. Best rider on the best bike. Does Rossi really need his ego stroked?

MotoGP » Factory engine for 2015 Open Honda

Ooh boohoohoo, Yamaha had no choice but to provide Forward with a 2013 Tech 3 bike because the chassis was not ready.... Forward could have used their old CRT bike too of course, but hey, it provides nice ammo for HRC haters. Personally I am happy that next year we have a seemingly more competitive close grid because of Honda's move and Ducati's progression. If people think they have the money to pay for the bikes, good for them. Whomever supplies the kit.
