F1 » Mercedes waiting as Red Bull-Renault row intensifies

Renault will not be able to finance the Lotus deal and the running cost of the team if they do not have the income from the deal with RBR and Torro Rosso covering some of the cost. (and do not forget the data flow from having three teams instead of 1 or 2) They probably have a green light from the board based on a certain budget. And that budget could be increased by a couple of hundred million when RBR terminate the contract. (yes, RBR pays for the engines) That's the main issue here. When RBR terminates, Renault hasn't got the go ahead on the Lotus deal anymore. It is RBR who have Renault by the balls, not the other way round.

F1 » Renault decision due in ‘next two weeks’

Any word on the Lotus bankruptcy lawsuit this afternoon? Also where is the news that Renault will not get extra FOM money and appear to be unable to buy Lotus while loosing it's two teams. Maybe they can supply Manor, but even they want Mercedes engines. What a clusterfuck. Renault have themselves by their balls, that's the only thing they can get a hold off.

F1 » Lotus urges Renault sale as bailiffs move in

The questions are these a. Does Renault have the budget for the buyout b. Does Renault have the budget and capabilities for increasing engine performance, because the Renault is not a Mercedes and Lotus will be at the back of the grid with a Renault. The problem is that it is getting more and more expensive by the minute. Lotus debt is increasing day by day, Renault engine performance and reliability is still pretty bad and the problems with the RBR contract are going to leave a big hole in the Renault budget for 2016. And Bernie still needs the go ahead for making Renault a historic team while his revenue side is dropping (for example RTL Germany just got a huge discount and Sky Germany doesn't want any rights. So even if Renault is granted historic status, the financial reward is still unsure. That is not a good climate to buy a team with financial and legal trouble.
