The ACO should review the design requirements of the LMP1 prototypes. I just saw the video of this crash. For some reason the car went sideways wen it approached the Dunlop chiquane and it simply suddenly started to fly and to roll. It just took off, just like the Peugeot of Gene did when he got it sideways in the Porsche Curves and Capello''s crash at Monza. This is a very serious issue. Three drivers have had very heavy crashes now and you don''t want to think of a car taking off and flying into the public.

Maybe it is better for Melandri to do some runs on an Aprilia 250 again. I think he has been conditioned by the Honda's friendliness too much. Maybe a Honda is the only thing he can go fast on in MotoGP, he wasn't able to find the right feeling on the old M1 either.... For fooks sake try to find the limit on that Duc. Crash the bike a couple of times to find where the limits are. Up the corner speed until you go down. At least you will now how far the limit is past your comfort level. Then adjust your comfort level by doing it again, and again, and again....

I am not completely up to date on the last asphalt improvements, but I know from the tracks here in my area that the asphalt needs time to heal for a couple of months before you can race on it. I remember too that last year or the year before that Laguna Seca had a repavement a few weeks before MotoGP arrived and even the bikes ripped the asphalt to pieces. So how asphalt that has been laid in the last couple of hours is going to resist the abuse of 70 laps times 20 cars...... And something else, with the lack of warm-up, how are the cars going to react to this? How will it be when it rains (normal reaction is very slippery).... Maybe they need another Kubica incident to come to senses....

The spinning is avoidable by taking bad track conditions into account. But when the track really desintegrates and pieces of asphalt start flying around it is another story. Will be interesting tomorrow.

It would not be unlikely for the 600cc class to be just as fast or faster than 800cc when this is about pure prototype racing. Mindboggling corner speeds.... So three problems: 600cc stock /supersport will conflict with current FIM Supersport 600cc prototype can come too close to 800cc prototype 600cc prototype will be more expensive than 250cc twostroke and add nothing to development. 600cc prototype is only affordable if you rev limit the engines and use a stock chassis. But that would not really be prototype anymore, now would it? What is starts to look like is that manufacturers want to get rid of dual championships in some political way and ditch the WSBK/SS expense.

It is also possible that Stoner wants to try the 2009 bike now, to give directions for development, to avoid what happened with the 2008 bike. It seems that they are on top of the 2008 problems now, at least for Stoner. Maybe let Melandri try the 2009 too, if it doesn't suit him, Ducati and Melandri can part ways for the better of Melandri.

Ok, it is not what I like and half in jest, but: Twostroke or fourstroke, we will run out of normal gas for them. Or run out of affordable gas for them. Why not make it a diesel powered class. 990cc turbodiesel engines. :)))) Seriously now.... 500cc would be nice, single manufacturer engine ok, but make it a four please, with 16 valves, revving to 18000 or more with open exhaust. Or a 400 four.

Strange incident, need to see history laps and other angles to judge that one fairly, but... (and it is no excuse)... Barbera shouldn't have been playing there. There was no reason to let Simoncelli get on the straight first. He was doing it a couple of laps already. Maybe for some nice finish photos or something. The guy should have stayed focussed and get on with it. Would have been an easy win for him.

I simply do not believe he is honest. It is just a "line" to appear to be like Senna. It sounds like cheap PR and not like real devotion like Senna had. No respect.

Someone who looked particularly poor on this track is Piquet. I wonder how long he will stay in that Renault. With some other street circuits still to be ran, Renault can't be happy.... And don't give me that teamorder, Alonso gets preference b s, because Renault needs both their cars at least in Q2. Every point counts. He is not even close.
