F1 » Defiant Red Bull couldn’t wait for Renault turnaround

You know what is arrogant? Threatening to leave the sport unless small capacity turbo hybrid engines are introduced. That is what Renault did. And then turn up with an underpowered, terribly unreliable piece of **** for which not even the software was ready at the first race. While boss Ghosn himself has put the Renault/Nissan automotive strategy on small diesel engines and full electric, stopping investments in hybrids years ago. They had unsufficient expertise, they wanted to develop on a minimum budget and they ware extremely slow. That is arrogant.

F1 » Red Bull engine crisis worsens after Ferrari 'rejection'

They are likely to have Renault engines in the back. Renault can only force itself out of the contract that is still not canceled when they accept that they will not get a cancellation fee from RBR. The fee they need to buy Lotus. Renault and RBR now need eachother. RBR cannot run without Renault and Renault cannot buy Lotus if they get no money from RBR and take over their sponsors. You could say they have eachother by the balls and cannot let go anymore or they will both end up outside of F1.

Taipan: Doesn't anyone think the lack of improvement from Renault this season was an intentional move by them to get them out of the RBR deal so that they could go solo by buying Lotus?
No, I seriously think they still cannot get a competitive PU together. And also will be unable to do that next year. Word is that the the next update is not working well enough on the dyno and will not be introduced at Austin.
