F1 » Team Lotus: Colin – we hope we did you proud

Taipan, You're right, but that's only part of the story. The old Team Lotus was a major force in F1 because of its technical innovations. Not all were Chapman's ideas, but whether they were or not, he made most work. Modern suspension design, monocoques, introduction of the Cosworth DFV as a stressed chassis member, wings, rising-rate suspensions, ground effects, active suspensions are all part of the legacy. The only major innovation he seems to have missed is the advantage of the mid-engine. Part of going to a F1 race was seeing what Lotus was doing, and how the other teams were going to catch-up. Nowadays, it seems the major emphasis is getting around the rules.

BSB » Hopkins dedicates wins on 9/11 anniversary

As an American, I'm not that familiar with the points system, so can't really make a comment either way. Having finally been able to watch the race live on the internet, it seemed no matter what the points system is the riders were at it as hard as ever, and Hopkins clearly was best for this meet, especially as he was riding in pain. And I especially noted that not only did he acknowledge his doctor for giving him the chance to compete, but he was thinking of something more important then just a romp in the countryside. For that he deserves the top step this weekend, and a shot at the title.
