F1 » McLaren 'experiment' made Hamilton who he is now

Having read this article in full, I was very much reminded of the comments Andre Agassi has made in discussing his autobiography. I think Whitmarsh's comments should be compared in context to what the tennis star went through. I can't say I'm terribly sympathetic to many of these characters, who are herded by PR types for the show, and who must win at any cost. Long gone are the days when Innes Ireland loaned his works Lotus to Stirling Moss so he'd have a better shot at being world champion. Champman probably was not impressed. I was disapointed at Hamilton playing games, especially under safety flag conditions. But at the very least, let him have his time to be a true sportsman.

FIA GT » Bertolini and Bartels win record third title

Well, maybe not - Bartels plans to be in Abu Dhabi for the start of next season. Vitaphone started with a Saleen in 2004, and managed 3 wins. But they've been running MC12s for the last 5 years, and I can't see them or Maserati giving up a good thing. Very true, the base car is an overkill relative to a Corvette. But they run with extra weight, smaller restrictors and wings. Their greastest advantage maybe how quickly the drivers can get in and out during pitstops, and Vitaphone's substantial budget. Considering the sordid state of affairs in F1, and the uneven fields in the Le Mans series, this can be great racing. Again, see Algrave.
