Disagree, Mosley is flexing his muscle for reasons other then sustainability, translating 90% of F1 development into road car design isn't going to work, the two environments are mutually exclusive. Sustainability in transport will be achieved by economics, legislative regulation driven by environmental diktats. Mosley is more concerned with the new Concorde agreement and ensuring his presidency till he dies, if environmental concern and not marketing were the issue F1 would have been banned 10 years ago, tokenism in the shape of KER's isn't going to make F1 green but might strengthen Mosley's grip on FIA.

Ellen Bach I'm unsure what it is about plain English you fail to comprehend (all of it I suspect), so one last try. I claimed nothing of the sort, I clarified the figure as a 3-day total, I shan't go over it all over again but if you take the trouble to read the posts greater understanding will dawn (I hope). Finally, you failed miserably to understand the concept of sold out. Not all of Silverstone is available for use on test days and attendance is limited (due to issues of access, timing, resources, parking, hospitality etc.). So capacity is not the maximum (110,000 or so) available but whatever the limit has been agreed (usually with the local council approval).

Ellen Bach Your post could have been compiled without the mendacity inference. However, Silverstone was a sell-out and your extrapolation (or that of Mike D) is based on estimated figures and no more accurate then the figure I quoted (though why is it so important to be 10,000 rather then 15,000/day is beyond me). When the attendance figures are known I'll not hang my head in shame or gloat because of them, they are what they are an estimate. Finally, Mike D, like yourself must feel very clever in multiplying an estimate by three and coming up with red faces, though you could have asked Mike D is what was the point of being there on Friday 27th June? Didn't testing end on the 26th?

Fernando Alfonso Probably true, however as an ex-McLaren fan I simply want FA to fulfil his potential and for that he requires a competitive car. Not necessarily the best car but one he could replicate his WDC seasons beating MS in what was not the best car on the grid.

Mike D You'd know better of course, Silverstone themselves reckon it was a sell-out and the test was a 3 day affair from 24th/26th (Tues/Wed/Thurs), when did you say you were there Friday?

Mike D Well if you read the post it was... among the 45,000... over the test and as stated I was there on the Thursday. Though that was after lunch at the teams HQ. Anything else Sherlock! a photo of me in the garage getting a feel for the weight of an exhaust manifold while you're probably swanning around copse with your mate from Bridgestone?

Mike D, Fine I'll wait till I meet Robert Mugabe or Russel Crowe in the flesh before I form an opinion on either (silly premise). You weren't alone at Silverstone, I was there (among the 45,000) on the Thursday as a guest of one of the major teams and have the pics/signed cap to prove it. While LH wasn't among them, those I met on a great day were as expected and very pleasant, the point is Lewis is reported accurately (he's not suing anyone is he?), and the plethora of his reported comments form a pretty accurate basis to form an opinion of the guy, can you say your brief conversation is more insightful then the last 15 months of reporting 'Hamiltionsims'?
