Lewis just been unveiled as the face of Reebok at £2m for 10 days a year and quotes Denzel Washington, Will Smith, and Naomi Campbell as “They are people I look up to,” he said. “And I am able to turn to them and get some advice from them because they are in the same sort of situation as me.”. Well Smith comes over as a great guy, Washington's a great actor and probably a role model as well but Naomi? Perhaps he ought to look elsewhere to get in touch with his feminine side. I suspect that before long you'll see Lewis becoming involved with scientology. I totally agreed with JR, (unsurprising as that was my post) and also the point by chu chu regarding Ron Dennis.

Testing is no barometer of race pace, teams either follow their own program, sandbag or set out to make a statement (usually undeserved, to grab a headline). Wasn't last years pole a low fuel gesture to the home fans? a little like FA's Monaco/Magny attempts. All part of the PR! While no Ferrari fan, they'll probably stroll it.

NoMax Apart from mixing SI with Imperial the math's is wrong the energy embodied with that mass and velocity (which is de-accelerating) from the moment of detachment is less the 600J (1kWh=3600000J), half of your figure. Furthermore something of little mass but reasonable surface area would rapidly dissipate that energy in air (density 1.2kG/cuMtr) remaining either on the track or usually track-side. Bit's fall off cars all the time and with the exception of those from major incidents pose little risk to spectator's official's or following drivers. The risk was minimal as the outcome showed. NoMax: My apologies your quite right on the energy at 1.2kJ enough to heat a cup water 1.5 deg

Strangely I didn't thing LH was unfairly penalised, certainly Kovie and Rosberg accepted theirs as deserved. McLaren whatever they felt wisely accepted and got on with the job. Quite rightly, James Andrews in the first post makes the point for professional stewards, conspiracies no, simply because KR didn't get penalised was probably the right judgement call, it wasn't as if the rear wing was going to fly off and the car take to the air. KR's exhaust wasn't a danger to anyone, had been looked at when he pitted and a judgement made and as the events proved the right one. To do anything else would have been grossly unfair and unsporting. Last point don''t mix SI and Imperial units!

Norma:James:White, Let's deal with the thread first, LH fully deserved the penalty (in both Montreal and Magny), no question of FIA conspiracy, Ferrari bias or anything else some fevered minds dream up, LH driving the car on both occasions and was solely responsible. LH can't open his mouth mouth without putting his foot in it and the only question that occurs to him is "which one do I stuff in first today?". While an unfortunate character trait is undeniably the case. On the PR front, Bishop has had a significant influence on the Hamilton rhetoric and should take credit for that. Any latent negativity in the media or unpopularity with fan's is down to who? Couldn't be Hamilton, No?

Let's face it, we were writing about this since Hamilton's debut in F1 when it was obvious he was going to be a PR disaster (painfully apparent from Monaco last year). As a consequence Matt Bishop from Autosport was appointed McLaren's PR guru towards the end of last season to specifically manage the problem. To be fair he's had some success unfortunately he can't be on hand all the time and on those occasions 'loose cannon' Hamilton reverts to type (resulting in Bishop inspired retractions/press releases). Hamilton's responses and interviews are so full of hype, mendacity and spin and knowing what to expect (and never been disappointed) I personally avoid them at all costs!

So Jackie for one who spoke with sense and eloquence on the MosleySexScandle you can talk out of your Tam''O''Shanter. Inexperience? this is a guy who''s been racing and mollycoddled under the tutelage of McLaren since god knows when and now your saying he needs to be told what a red light means? Your right Einstein he''s not but he is 21/22 and been out of nappies for quite some time now, surly it''s time he learnt to do things for himself and to accept responsibility for his mistakes just like the rest of us. But mostly Jackie be consistent, don''t tell us one day he''s the greatest ever then he''s bound to make mistakes because of inexperience!
