OK so Mosley was caught waving his willy about at 5-***s and we're all discussing it ad nausea. But now Mosley is persona non grata at Melbourne and Bahrain why are the team principles/manufactures not refusing to work with the prat who now is blaming those who exposed him (exposing himself) as opposed to blaming the one responsible, himself!

Most caught flagrante-delicto keep a low profile and wait for the storm to pass, Max illicit's the help of MI5 who report on "a covert investigation of my private life and background has been undertaken by a group specialising in such things, I shall now devote some time to those responsible for putting this into the public domain" While he apologises he's not going to resign, well Melbourne don't want him at discussions about their GP's future, the Bahrain Royal family don't want him there for the GP, so what's it going to take for him to get the message, as 'paul m' say's (and like Mugabe) "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely", this guy's completely lost the plot!

Snoopy, the following was taken from the BBC website and doesn't mention worldwide rights only the UK. In the Guardian BE is reported to be disappointed the LH effect (if it ever existed) hadn't resulted in a bidding war. ......The BBC has secured the television rights to show Formula One in the UK from the 2009 season. The five-year deal for an undisclosed fee marks F1's return to BBC screens 12 years after it switched to ITV. The contract covers all platforms and will see F1 broadcast on the BBC Sport website, as well as on TV and radio. F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone said he was "delighted", adding: "The BBC has some innovative ideas to consolidate and expand our UK fan base."....

Snoopy I was under the impression the transmission was limited to UK only , certainly ITV didn't have worldwide rights (even with the latest deal on streaming is UK only) nor am I aware of interest from Sky or any other UK network. My issue is why the BEEB didn't cut a better deal seeing as ITV wanted to dump F1 (ignoring what BE may say is the better option whatever the circumstances) and I didn't see any other expressions of interest?

Snoopy Perhaps lining BE's pockets by paying an over inflated price when there was no evidence of competition for the contract is a better way of wasting the cash!

Steve C Agree completely, BE's comments have little to do with accuracy and elimination of breaks is a very big plus. However I'm unsure about ITV not making a loss (or not making the returns expected), although revenue can be dictated initially, it can't be sustained if the 'projected' target audience falls below expectation, which it appears is happening with viewing figures. I think ITV were in trouble, wanted out and BE would have looked for a face saver. My only regret is that the BBC hasn't enough business acumen to take advantage of the situation instead of paying through the nose.

ITV said it was a commercial decision to terminate the contract with two years to run, in other words it was a loss maker. The LH effect much vaunted by the media and BE had simply not materialised. That in 2007 with the exception of the Brazil viewing figures (probably due to the uncertainty surrounding the outcome and not LH) the season as a whole was 'disappointing', this begs the question why would the BBC pay the amount their were outbid by to secure the contract when the viewing figures could have allowed a more aggressive price bid? After all who was the competition or was there any?

Kamil Not humility, honesty will do! You should also be aware LH comes over to many as you put it "Brits" (I dare-say the majority) in exactly the same way. In fairness, since the new McLaren PR guy has been in charge there's been a very definite improvement in his image and measurable reduction in his 'foot in mouth' comments.

Fine, no breaks and a return to a quality broadcast and the return of Murray Walker (last bit was a joke). But why had BE found it necessary to go back to the BBC (with his tail between his legs?). No mention of a bidding war, perhaps ITV didn't want it that badly because it's still a minority sport and not the global phenomena BE talk's it up to be!
