No surprise, but I'm happy that Hulkenberg has finally been confirmed. I've never understood why some people (a few commentators in particular) weren't convinced by him. He has the best record of any F1 newcomer for a while...

2005 - Formula BMW ADAC - 1st
2006/7 - A1GP - 1st
2008 - F3 Euro Series - 1st
2009 - GP2 - 1st

For a minute I was worried they'd won an award for that embarrassingly bad "World's Greatest Car Chase" trailer.

Rocco, you are living in a dream world if you think Chandhok is quicker than Di Resta. Remind me, which one of them beat Vettel (plus Nakajima, Kobayashi, Buemi & Grosjean) to the F3 Euroseries? And I'd say it's too early for Hildebrand, but the guy definitely has potential to be the next North American in F1.

squiggle was right, Piquet competed in the endurance race at the Monaco Kart Cup last month, sharing a kart for his own Piquet Sports team with Sergio Jimenez and and Carlos Iaconelli, finishing 2nd. More innacurate reporting from crash.

Chandhok's two GP2 wins were in the reverse top 8 second race, so like all GP2 sprint race wins, they can't be used as a serious gauge of talent. Sorry, but 10th with reigning champion team iSport in 2008 just doesn't cut it.

Quote: "If he is good enough, he should be in F1 and it is good that he has offers." Anyone following him through F3 and GP2 would know he isn't good enough.

I agree, IRL have to grasp why CART is remembered with such affection, and take the series away from the current spec formula. Chassis rules which lead to beefier, better looking cars are essential to recapture the imagination of fans. I'm no anti-IRL Champ Car fanatic, as what's done is done, but anyone can see the current IRL pales in comparison to Champ Car/CART at its 1990s peak.

Carlton Kirby is the bane of any sane-thinking motorsport fan's existence.

Oh for goodness sake... "not proven himself"? What more does he need to do than narrowly miss out on the GP2 title in his FOURTH full season of car racing? You can't buy success like that. Not to mention he missed out on years of karting, considered an essential part of most drivers' development. What does he need to do to prove himself in your eyes?

I'm pretty certain Openwheeler was being sarcastic, given Mann's distinct lack of results in anything she's ever driven in...
