R.I.P. F1!

We have already lost most of the classic circuits now this may be the final nail in the coffin. As much as I love F1 I would rather see the teams stick to their guns that let Max win this one.

On Ferrari needing F1 to sell cars, that simply is not the case. All of the Ferrari owners that I have met are aware of F1 but I would hardly consider them fans of the series. If Ferrari were to run at LeMans and Indy it would create a huge amount of publicity. Probably more publicity than they are getting from on track this year.

The solution is pretty simple. They need to do a one year deal. The BRDC should be given time to come up with long term plan for F1 if they are going to sign a 17 year agreement.

@Andrew Mac - I am not a Hammy fan but all you have to do is look at the first corner of the his first F1 race to know that Hammy was going to be a front runner.

For whatever reason, Kimi did not gel with Ferrari. Prior to going to the Scuderia most people recognized his talent. When he negotiated his Ferrari contract he took advantage of the amount of money that was left on the table. An unmotivated Kimi was miles ahead of Fisi. I think the new rules next year will benefit drivers like Kimi and Nick for that matter. Don't forget that Kimi finished within a point of Hamilton this year and Ferrari did not have the resurgence that McLaren did.

Thanks Dice, I guess that means that he needs to be bankrupted because the current model is not sustainable. It is time for all the traditional venues to form a group similar to FOTA so that they can force a change.

Three is the best of the bunch. I may have to get some of those Falken tires. In the picture above the second from the left beats them all.

@Autoidiot (Rob01-hope you don't mind if I borrow that one) - considereing the way that Ari towers over Todt and BE he is hardly a pygmy. In fact he is almost the spitting image of your idol Max. FOTA really blew it by not breaking away. They were so close. I am starting to think that a lot of this was planned some time ago in order to break the current F1 power structure. If Renault and Merc stop Ferrari can't be far behind.

From what I understand Monaco does not pay anything. They have invested in track improvements and a new pit complex though. Whether or not Monaco's deal is fair to the others is of little importance. Monaco is the only race that F1 can't afford to lose. It would be like Indycar without the Indy 500. Monaco really cannot accomodate a normal size crowd so their earning potential is very limited. Also as Rob pointed out Bernie really does not have much room to negotiate due to the loans. The only way to change this may be to bankrupt FOM. F1 needs a major overhaul and it is going to take some time and cause some pain.

The "heritage" races should be promoted by FOM not the host country. They should pay rent for use of the circuit and take all of the money from the gate, advertising, and TV. The track could also make money through selling consessions. If the track is not up to Bernie's standards then FOM doesn't pay as much rent. Failing that the FIA should set the maximum price than FOM can charge to hold a heritage event. Any country that has held more than say 40 F1 races should be considered a heritage country. The rules should specify a minimum number of heritage races that must he held each year. Seven or eight heritage events would be ideal but five or six may be more realistic.

@ Britfan sorry if I misunderstood. I thought you were saying Ferrari should be happy that the competition is weaker.
