F1 » F1: Double points could ‘overshadow season’ – Wolff

andren79: I've never been a fan of Hamilton, but as a racing fan I want the best driver to win and he's the man so far this season. He deserves the points cushion he has built (= almost one race win). Is there any reason why the last race is twice as important? Is it longer? Is it more challenging? No, no, no. So it's up to us, racing fans, to crown the actual champion if anything stupid happens.
I guess that there is no need to run the race then. For some he has already won no matter what happens.

F1 » F1: Double points could ‘overshadow season’ – Wolff

Ponty:
Mark : If Lewis loses by a point then he may regret quitting that race earlier in the season.
You mean that race where his car was damaged and he was slower than the saubers?
It was a strategy call to stop. No one knows for sure what would have happened if he didn't quit. The one thing that is for sure is that if you quit you don't score any points.

F1 » Cautious thumbs up for three car F1 teams

cleon:
slightlysideways: One disadvantage of three car teams that is being ignored is the fact that let's say Mercedes had three cars this year, they would probably have secured a string of 1,2,3 finishes. How boring would that be watching pretty much every race podium being all silver?
Not boring if we are seeing those cars fight for the drivers championship going down to the wire like we are seeing between Nico and Lewis. For me the only people finding it this years season boring are those who's favorite driver or team is not challenging, which makes them not true F1 fans.
When a team is this dominant it is boring. Plus they really have only raced wheel to wheel two or three times this season. What are you seeing that we are not?

F1 » Vettel ‘not allowed’ to announce F1 future

throttlemeister:
fearenside: God.! I absolutely hated watching Schumacher collide with Hill and Villeneuve. One of those acts of deliberately endangering life actually won him a world championship. There is still room for sportsmanship in sport. The current generation of drivers i respect much more.
The one with Hill was Hill's fault, not Schumacher. Even Hill admitted such a few years back. The other one though.... Then again, the greatest champions are always prepared to do whatever it takes. Even if its dirty or dangerous.
To be fair JV's pass was pretty argy bargy.

F1 » Max Mosley expects more F1 teams to fold

theeagle: Max played a great part in F1 but sadly his words now are too little too late (though no fault of Max). What I dont get is what happened to the Bond (large cash deposit) potential teams/ entrants were required to lodge to show their seriousness. Maybe this is another part F1 lost since Max left.
The bond is to show that they have enough financial backing to make the grid. It is not enough to run a team on indefinitely.

F1 » US Grand Prix set for smallest F1 grid since 2005

For the makers in F1 is it that important? Ferrari, McLaren and Merc sell more in the Middle East and China, Lotus are nothing to do with Lotus Cars, Caterham (if they were there..) are probably not sold in the US which leaves Red Bull, Torro Rosso, Sauber, Force India and WIlliams, none of whom make road cars. Sponsorship wise, don't some teams have a different named sponsor, exclusive to the US race (thinking of McLaren who used to have Verizon instead of vodafone..)? The withdrawal of Marussia and Caterham is hardly a surprise, both having been starved to death by owners who have lost interest. Its unfortunate that Austin ends up with a smaller grid but, honestly, will anyone notice the lack of road blocks?
The U.S. is the largest market for Mercedes and Ferrari. It is also probably the biggest market for Red Bull. I do think that attendance will be lower due to the lack of good racing or good sound.
